Chapter 26. Victors Village

Victor's Village

(Taylor's perspective)

As we arrive in the victors village we drive past all of huge mansion's with large lawns with big gates protecting the past tributes properties.

"Look who is on the cover of Panem magazine!" Liberty shouts excitedly holding up the cover of us wearing our tributes parade outfits.

"Why are we on the cover? Because we won?" I asked.

"Yes that is one but also because your outfits are a hit by the Capital citizens! Everyone is wearing snake prints!" Liberty said.

"Really? Because I killed that snake?" I asked.

"Where did that snake come from? How did it escape?" Joe asked.

"The game makers said the snake escaped the lab where they create all of the animals that they use for the arena." Cymbeline said.

"Great because of that snake it became a fashion trend in the Capital and it started a war with the other districts when I killed it!" I said.

"How many past victors live here now?" I asked.

"Mostly all of the past victors have lived here. Some have died due to being reaped again to be in the games or old age. Peta and Katniss, Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta,

"And one past Capital citizen lives here when the Capital Games where held in '78's games." Liberty said.

"That's right there was a Capital's games." Joe said.

I almost forgot about the Capital games!!

"Oh yeah." I said remembering learning that in school.

"I think this is it." Liberty said as we pulled up to a huge mansion.

I gasp at how big it is and Joe looks at it in shock as well.

"Come on let's pick out a room where the master bedroom is." Liberty said.

"Master bedroom?" I asked.

"Well yes where both of you will be sleeping." Cymbeline said.

"Both of us?" I asked.

"Well you two are dating for the Capital and you never know when they will have a surprise visit to the house. Also your neighbor's might tell an inside scoop to reporters in the Capital if they see anything suspicious." Liberty said.

"Great we still need to act even here." I said groaning.

I looked over at Joe and he seems uncomfortable by my words.

Does he really have feelings for me?

I do have a connection to Joe since we where in the games together but I wouldn't call it love just set.

Do I love him already?

So soon?

The car parks at the front gate of the Victor's Village where dozens of cameras crew's are filming our arrival and some Capital citizens came here in person to just see our car drive through the gates. The small crowd cheers as they see the car full forward and the camera film our car driving through the front gates and close as we made it through.

"I still don't understand why people want to see us? Why are we so special to them? Yes we survived the games but now I'm second guessing if surviving was the better option if we have to live like this." I said.

"You both are forever in the eyes of the Capital and the eyes of the President for the rest of your lives now. Ever since you where both picked out of these bowls. Especially for you Taylor. I'm sorry but you both can't go back to normal since your background with District 13." Liberty said.
