I placed my hand outside the window and felt the gentle breeze brush against my fingertips. I smile at the feeling as I look outside, gazing at the beautiful and empty fields, despite the walkers wandering around.
"So, you and Carl?" Daryl starts. I groan. Why?! Why does conversations always start like this?!
"Ugh. What about him? Why is it always him?" I ask frustrated.
"Easy tiger, I just wanted to know how you two are goi'n. Since it's obvious you like him and that love puppy shit" Daryl replies glancing at him.
"It's puppy love, Daryl" I correct him.
"Whatever, that ain't what I was aski'n. What are you getting so worked up for?"
"Nothing"
"It ain't nothing, I can tell. Spit it" He says.
"It's really a waste of your time Daryl" I say softly.
"I said spit it"
I sigh. "Your decision" I say before telling him everything. From day one and how Carl caught my eye to the day of the watch tower and how he told me to forget everything. I told him how I felt especially about everything especially Olivia and Carl's kiss.
He leaned back and sighed.
"Well it's definitely a fact that you like him" He says.
"I know, and I thought he liked me too, since he tried to kiss me that night when you interrupted us" I mumble.
"I don't know much about what yer goi'n through, but give him some time to process what he's done let and e'm figure out a way to sort it all out"
"I guess that makes sense" I say softly.
I sit back and relax, listening to the wind blowing past the car.
"We're here" Daryl announces as we pull over in front of a huge mart that had walkers roaming around.
...
"Ooh definitely need this" I whisper as I grab more baby formula for Judith. I shove it in the bag and Daryl comes up to me.
"Stay close kid, wouldn't want any unexpected chompers rippi'n out your insides" He whispers, his bag already full.
"Full already?" I ask in astonishment.
"Yeah, well I'm a fast packer" He says before switching to his other empty bag.
"Alright, I'll check the next aisle" I reply quietly sneaking to the next aisle. Food.
Food.
I grabbed a lot of canned shit. I have some clothes for Judith, I have some diapers, I have some towels and blankets, batteries, flashlights and a badge. It was gold and it had the words, 'World's Best Sheriff' and it really reminded me of Carl. Perhaps I could give this to him the next time we talk, I hope. I smile and put the badge in my pocket. I hear a whistle and realize it's Daryl's, a sign that we should already get going.
I travel my way quietly up to the front doors of the mart and we quickly slip out. A dozen of walkers gather around us and Daryl curses. He takes his crossbow out but quickly lowers it when he sees that the walkers were too many too handle.
"How many?" I ask starting to panic.
"Too much for us to handle, I'll clear a path and you follow close behind alright" Daryl didn't give me time to respond. He stabs through every walker and I follow closely behind, stabbing any who got near me. I see Daryl finally out and I run after but a crawling walker grips it's grey decaying hand onto my ankle and I fall to the ground with a thud. I yell at Daryl.
