Maya's pov
It was minutes after I heard I'm being adopted.
I got the fright of my life and thought it was false.
Moving?
Is that what Mrs Matthews decided?
No it can't be.
It can't be true.Maya was sitting aside trying to keep herself calm but couldn't.
Tears were now streaming down her face and she was in a state.
The previous moment about her step-dad adopting her has been forgotten.
Pushed aside.
It didn't matter anymore.
All that mattered was what was said at that moment.Josh's pov
I looked over at the girl I've known for three years.
I've never seen her like that.
She was so happy just a few minutes ago and then Topanga changed everything with those few words.
Her eyes never looked so sad.
It broke my heart seeing her like that."We're so sorry Maya," Topanga said.
"Could you withdraw somehow?" Katy asked.
"I don't think so. I've already signed the contract," Topanga said.Shawn and Katy looked at Maya who was in tears.
Like many other times when she had received bad news.
But this time it was much worse.
It wasn't just plain crying.
It was like a breakdown.
Maya stood up from where she was sitting and went outside.
Cory went to the door but Josh stopped him.
With a nod he let his brother go.
Josh figured he'll be the one to help Maya.
Maybe he could calm her down.
Maybe...
A word he has been using since he found out about the entire thing.
Eventually he found Maya on top of the roof.
She was on the edge sitting.
He didn't even know what he would say.
But he knew he had to do something.
Josh sat down next to Maya and immediately saw how her eyes were getting red.
She didn't want anything at the moment.
Not attention.
Not hugs.
Not kisses.
She just wanted her best friend.
Tears were now streaming out more than ever before and Maya buried her face in her hands.
She couldn't anymore.
Josh pulled her close to him and she started to sob.
She couldn't.
She had to let it go.
But she didn't want to upset too many people.
Now on the roof with just she and Josh she could let go.
But she doesn't know what possible may happen.
All she knew was she wasn't just saying goodbye to her best friend but to the people who were like her parents for many years.
