Maya and Josh were at the top of NYU's building while they waited with a lot of the other kids for the new year to break on.
For Maya it seemed that the new year would bring many more happiness than it could ever bring sadness.
Maya looked around her finding quite a few of college sophomores which wasn't a big surprise but it was to them to see a girl of her age at NYU.
"So, Josh. Didn't know you brought your sister along," Frank said and Maya looked at him.
"I didn't. I brought my girlfriend. Problem?" Josh asked.
"Boing, déjalos que digan lo que quieran," Maya said as they looked at her.
"De acuerdo, preciosa. Los dejaré si quieres eso," Josh said and everyone looked at them.
"OK gracias," Maya said and Josh took a look at his friends.

"It's Spanish. The language we just spoke with each other. She has been taking it since she started freshman year," Josh said.
"Good grief. Thought we were crazy," Tom said and Maya smiles.
"Here we go. You guys ready?"
Everyone went to stand at the point of the building soon before fireworks went off.
Maya smiles as Josh hold sher tight in his arms ready to go into the new year even if it wasn't entirely what they were expecting.
