Chapter 19 - On His Way

Thanksgiving evening.
Half past eight and everyone was at the hospital.
Josh was keeping Maya busy as she was trying to stay calm with her mother going into labor.
Shawn was with Katy as the doctor figured out she was currently three centimeters dilated which was very early.

"Your mom is gonna be okay," Josh said and Maya smiled.
"This is just in time. Looks like he has perfect timing to come. At least my mom's experience will be better than last time," Maya said and Josh looked at her.
"I was born prematurely. Eight weeks early," Maya said.
"And I thought five was big. And yet you are here and fine," Josh said.
"I was for two weeks in the NICU. was a rough experience," Maya said.
"Isn't it for everyone? I'm actually really glad that you are okay and here. My life is definitely better since I've moved to New York," Josh said.

Four hours later.
Half past twelve.
Maya was struggling to stay awake which she actually didn't want to happen.
Josh had gone to call someone to just look after the apartment since it wasn't entirely that secured and he needed his best friend just to go and check on it.
A little girl around three years old came in with her mother and immediately ran to the couch where Maya was sitting.
She looked over at Maya and gave her a smile before her mother came.

"This one is a disaster," she said causing Maya to smile.
"How old is she?" Maya asked.
"Belle is three. Gosh, do you know where I can find someone to quickly look after her for a few minutes? My husband is in the ICU and I need to see him," she said.
"I can take care of her. My mother is in labor so I'll probably be here for awhile," Maya said.
"Okay. Sweetie, stay here with..."
"Maya. Hey, Belle. What have you got there?" Maya asked as the little girl showed her whag she had in her backpack.

It was awhile later and eventually Maya fell asleep.
She wakes up to a slight shake realizing it was her boyfriend.
She sits up as he hands her a coffee giving her a kiss on her head.

"Ten hours later. Gosh, how far is she now?" Maya asked.
"None. She'll be pushing soon. Why don't you to check up on her?" Josh asked and Maya nod as she stands up.

"Hey, Mom," Maya said.
"Baby Girl. Hey," Katy said and Shawn smiled.
"She's almost going in," Shawn said.
"Good luck," Maya said and went out of the room.

Three hours later at 08:30 am the little baby boy was born.
Katy was releaved that her birth experience wasn't as terrifying as it was with Maya but gosh it was long.
Maya and Josh were waiting to get news on the baby when they heard they could go in.

"Hey, guys. Come in," Shawn said.
"Congrats, Shawn. Officially a father to a baby boy. Congratulations Katy," Josh said.
"Thank you. Meet your big sister, Buddy," Katy said as Maya smiled.
"Wanna hold him?" Katy asked and Maya nod as she lightly handed the baby to her daughter.
"Hey, Bud. He's beautiful, Mom," Maya said.
"What's his name?" Josh asked.
"Patrick Jonathan Hunter," Shawn said causing Maya to smile.
"Hey, Patrick. Welcome," Maya said.
