"When do we have to leave?" I ask Paige as I take a sip of my coffee. She looks up from the paper she's looking that Jackson asked her to look over before checking her watch for the time.

"About ten minutes," she says in a sweet voice.

"Where are you going?" Liza asks from the stove, where she's pushing around some eggs in a pan that she's making for Javi. Pretty quickly, we found out he isn't in a good mood this morning, so Liza offered to cook him something before work. That seemed to have calmed him down, but of course, I can't ask what's wrong since he doesn't want to interact with me in any way whatsoever.

"Blaine has a doctor's appointment," Lukas says from his spot next to me.

Liza whips around to look at me with a concerned expression. "Why? Is everything alright?"

I nod my head before anyone else could say anything else. "Just a check-up, everything's fine."

Liza nods her head before turning back to the eggs that she's scooping onto a plate now. I must say, the fluffy scrambled eggs look amazing, but the moment she pulls out a bottle of hot sauce from the fridge, I cringe. She hands the plate and bottle to Javi, who graciously thanks her and doesn't waste time to pour some of the red liquid onto the eggs. I turn away when he glances up at me, not wanting to deal with him right now. I'm already nervous about this doctor's appointment and he'll just make it worse.

I slide off the stool I'm sitting on before leaving the kitchen, taking the stairs two at a time. Once I get in my room, I slide on my shoes and grab my small backpack that holds my essential items. Once I'm ready to leave, I turn the lights off and go back downstairs where Paige and Lukas are talking by the front door.

"...simple tests. I'll make sure everything's okay," Paige is telling her husband and as soon as they see me standing there, they stop talking and give me smiles. Paige grabs her purse and swings it over her shoulder, checking if she has the car keys. "ready to go?"

I hold one finger up to tell her to give me a moment before rushing down the hallway and into the kitchen. I peek my head in to look at Liza, who's whistling something while wiping down the counters that have some waffle batter on them. "Bye, Liza."

She jumps in her spot before turning to look at me and I can tell she's hiding her huge smile that I'm saying bye before leaving. Instead, she holds her hand up in a shy wave. "Bye, Blaine. Have fun!"

I scoff playfully. "Getting poked and prodded by doctors? So fun."

I go to leave, but her voice stops me from retreating. "Wait, why would you get poked and prodded?"

I can't help but glance over at Javi, who's now watching me intently, but as soon as he sees me looking, his head drops to look back at his half-eaten plate. I resist the urge to roll my eyes and turn back to Liza, who's waiting for my response. I hold my arm out and use my index finger to tap the place where my upper and lower arm meets, usually where they draw blood for a sample. "STD testing."

"Oh, damn," Liza says with wide eyes before giving me a wry smile. "well, good luck, I guess?"

I chuckle and nod my head. "Yeah, thanks."

I turn away from her, but not before I see Javi fully staring at me now. When I turn away, a smirk spreads across my lips at the fact that he can't keep his eyes off me. It's painfully obvious and even if I wish I knew what happened between us, I'm glad that he can't resist me. Maybe he actually does like me, even if that is highly unlikely. I wipe the smirk off my mouth by the time I walk back into the living room where Lukas and Paige are still talking to each other.

But this time, I'm not able to hear them say anything because they stop talking as soon as I walk in. Paige pats her husband's chest lightly and gives him some look that I can't quite decipher, but Lukas must've been able to because the nervous look etched into his features drops from his face.
