Chapter 8: the process and the return

D sigh. She knew this would hurt him. But at least she could ensure his immortality.

"This will hurt a little." D said nervously.

"Ok.." Leo said holding D's hand.

D bit down onto Leo's neck, extracting the crimson liquid from within him. Leo bit his lip, surrendering to whatever this feeling was that he felt. D drug her tongue across, catching some stray drops. She unlatched her fangs and wiped her mouth, smirking as she noticed how flushed Leo was. She smiled and looked at the huge mark on Leo's neck.

D kissed the wound and smiled. "You feeling ok?" D asked.

Leo nodded, flashing a weak smile at D. She kissed the mark continuously, occasionally licking the wound. Leo became undone at this small act, and D could tell.

"Is this you Achilles heel? Neck kisses?" D asked.

"I won't confirm or deny it.." Leo said slyly.

"Well, I guess there is only one way for me to find out.." D chuckled. She slowly kissed and nipped at Leo's neck, listening to him as his breath went from steady to hitched and erratic.

Leo couldn't take the teasing, he bit his lip, hoping to draw his attention to his lip and not his neck. D stopped to look into Leo's clouded eyes. She smirked.

"So it is your Achilles heel..." d smirked.

She looked at the new spots, instantly panicking.

"Shit. We have to make it look like something bad happened to you. Like I lost control or something.." D began as she started pacing the floor.

"Or we can just tell them.." Leo joked lovingly.

"I choose life. Good thing for you I know how to stage things like this." D chuckled nervously.

D pulled out some makeup and went to work, making Leo look beat up and worn. She sat Leo on the couch and laid in the floor. She held her head and waited. And just in time, the rift opened, spitting out Ace, Daniel, and Adam. Ace looked at the sight in front of them and panicked.

"D! What did you do?" He asked nervously.

"I don't know.. I was in my blood fever and hen I woke up and he was all beaten up and I don't know what happened-" D said starting to cry.

Ace looked at Leo as Leo slowly opened his eyes.

"Leo! Leo can you hear me?" Ace asked.

"What- happened?" Leo asked. He looked all over his body. The bruises were very convincing.

"I don't know, are you ok?" D asked rushing to him.

"I'll be ok- let me just-" Leo said getting off of the couch. He walked slowly towards the kitchen and fell. He stayed there hoping they'd buy it. And they did..

"Leo!" Daniel shrieked, rushing to him.

Daniel touched Leo's arm and the makeup smudged. He looked at Leo and then at D.

"You guys go.. I can take care of them." Daniel said dismissing them. Without another word the others went to shower and Daniel looked at them.

"D, what really happened?" He asked with a chuckle.

"I didn't want to tell Ace but I kinda sorta.. maybe-" D began.

"Look, I don't mind what you two do. But I can only cover for you for so long. Make sure next time, if you can help it.. don't be so reckless.." Daniel chuckled.

"Thanks for understanding-" d began.

"You know I'm gonna get you out of trouble.. but I can't promise that I can fool them forever." Daniel reasoned. He looked to Leo,

"Let's see the damage," he said with a laugh.

Leo wiped away the makeup and sigh.

"Wow D, what brought this on?" Daniel asked.

"The fever.. post fever that is.." D chuckled nervously.

"So, are you guys dating? What's going on that I'm not seeing?" Daniel asked.

"Well, we want to take our time because we both know how it feels to lose someone important to us.. so we figured-" d began.

"What about you Leo? What are you planning?" Daniel asked.

"I want the make her mine with time. I don't want to just go on a whim- I want to be by her side no matter what happens. I want to protect her and hold her, knowing she's happy and in the right arms. So that she doesn't have to experience pain anymore.." Leo explained.

"Well, I can see your futures, and it's very promising.. just keep this same mindset and- oh! Wow. You guys will definitely last.." Daniel said holding his mouth, smirking.

"What do you see?" D asked.

"I can't spoil it. Just continue to care for each other and in about a year, you'll see.." Daniel said walking away.

D and Leo looked at the other.

"Let's wash off that makeup and get to sleep. I'm exhausted..." D began.

"I second that.." Leo said walking to the kitchen. The two washed the makeup off of Leo and quickly rushed to their beds, Leo on the top bunk and D on the bottom.

"Goodnight.." d sigh.

"Goodnight." Leo said rolling over.
