Chapter 9: the worst possible plan

Leo woke up to a loud thud, he quickly kept out of bed and rushed into the living room, watching as Ace and Daniel were trying to fight SSA's. Leo fired up his hands, incinerating the two in the room.

"Leo, grab D, we have to go.. they know where we are.." Daniel said stepping on a locater. He sigh.

"I got you.." Leo said rushing into the room.

Leo pulled D out of bed and piggy backed her into the living room. The rift was open and ace waited for them both. They both leapt through, being dropped into the thick, lush forest around them.

"How are we going to get to safety? That was our last option Ace.. what do we do?" Daniel asked.

"I say, we pretend to be overpowered. Then, once we are there. We can infiltrate their information and make them sorry they ever crossed us.." Ace said with a pissy attitude.

"That is so stupid.. we all stand out. Plus, we only got away last time because we had her..." Adam began.

"I don't hear any other ideas.." Ace growled.

"I'll just give myself up.. you guys can get away, and they have what they are after." Leo said selflessly.

"No, you are a part of this team Leo!" Ace growled fiercely.

"It's not a bad idea. Besides, how are they going to contain him? He can burn literally everything.." Adam began.

"You really want to give up our most prized fighter to get them off our backs?" Ace asked.

"We aren't going to leave him. I could open a rift," Adam began.

"Everyone be quiet, I'm getting something.." Daniel shushed.

The group was hit with a sleeping gas and dropped like flies. Leo watched as his bison blurred to black.

Leo opened his eyes to see all of the group in chairs with metal cuffs. He looked around frantically.

"Guys?" He asked.

"They aren't waking up any time soon.." D sigh.

"D! Are you ok? Did they hurt you?!" Leo asked.

"No, no.. I'm ok." D said smiling.

A guard came in to see the two chattering.

"You, the pyro.. I didn't think we'd ever catch you. And it seems you led us right to your little wanted friends as well.. tell me. How long did you think you could hide?" He asked.

"Oh.. well it's funny you say that. I let you catch me. Unfortunately, my friends were caught up in my mess.." Leo griped.

"And this thing-" the guard began.

"Watch how you talk about her. I'll kill you!" Leo griped.

"Your little princess? This ugly, pathetic thing.. sure she's eye candy. But did you know she caused the death of over 300 people in '95?" He asked.

"I don't give a shit. You have no right to talk about her that way.." Leo snapped.

"I-I didn't mean to kill those people! I just tried to save the little girl from that abuser! You know the story!" D spat out angrily.

"I wasn't talking to you, you abomination." The guard spat out stepping closer to her. Leo got angry. Very quickly.

" Hurt her and I'll break from this chair and kill you.." Leo spat out. The guard struck him continuously in the face, damaging some of the circuit.

"STOP! YOURE GONNA KILL HIM!" D screamed.

The guard extracted a knife from his pocket and smirked.

"Remember the scar you gave me all those years ago? Where was it? About here?" He asked, slicing D's face like a madman. Leo broke the leg restraints and couldn't budge the ones on his arms. He plucked he chair from its cement base and swung it over his head, crushing the guard beneath it.

"THAT'S My BaBY!" Leo growled. The force the chair used to hit the ground made the entire thing shatter. His voice modulator was busted due to the blows he took to the face. He took the guard by the throat, dogging his nails into his airway, piercing it so that he'd slowly drown and suffocate in his own blood.

He clawed the mans face, angrily going on a rage.

"No ONE WILL EVER TREAT HER LIKE THAT IN FRONT OF ME? YOU HEAR ME GOD DAMMIT? I'LL FUCKING DESTROY YOUR BLOODLINE YOU STUPID BITCH!" Leo screamed.

The guard choked, coughing and sputtering as he suffocated. Leo spit in his face, snatching the keys off of his clothes. He unlocked D's cuffs and took off his shirt. He wiped her face, hoping the blood would cease. Leo held his throat and watched as D leaned into him, crying.

"Shhhh, I'm here.." Leo spoke roughly.

"Save your voice. I'll fix you." D said softly. She reached up, brushing her lips against his. She hugged him tightly, crying.

He rubbed against her with his face, hoping she knew sign language.

He signed to her that he was going to unlock the others. She hugged him.

"You didn't have to do that for me Leo. I could have taken it." D cried.

The others as amazing as it was, were still asleep. Leo and D loomed over the three, making them all wake up immediately.

"What happened?!" Ace asked.

"There's no time. We have to do what we came for." D said unlocking the cuffs, looking around the room.

"We will have to fight more.." Leo said short circuiting.

"Your voice?!" Ace cried.

Leo broadcast what happened, the AI was still in tact, just damaged. The others watched what happened. Leo cut out him calling d his baby, only it wasn't on purpose. The video started corrupting. They managed to make it to the end before the feed was cut.

"We have to fix you before anything else.." Daniel said with a sigh.

"Adam. Use the rift to get the AI out. But be gentle.." Ace began.

Leo shook his head.

"It's attached to my spine" Leo said nervously. He was able to bring up the diagnostic.

"One piece has just drifted a bit. So all we have to do is push it back.." d said looking closely at the diagnostic.

Leo sat down and held his head as Adam went to work. He slowly pushed the piece into place, extracting his hand with a great sigh.

"Better?" D asked.

Leo cleared his throat.
