Leo jerked awake and sniffed the air. D was clinging to him, she cried.
"Leo.. we have a huge problem..." d began.
"What is it? What's that smell?" Leo asked.
"My dad, he's here. I don't know why. What do I do?" D asked.
Leo paused. He listened as footsteps echoed from the ladder and to his door knob. Leo held D tight and kissed her forehead. She slowly squeezed tighter, worrying more than she should have. He put on an old varsity jacket and waited.
The door was pushed open and the light was turned on. Leo hid D under the blanket and faced D's father face to face.
"Can I help you, sir?" Leo asked.
"I'm not here for you. I'm here for her.." Her father snarled.
"I don't want you here. Leave." D snapped from under the blanket.
"Sweetheart look at me.." her father asked.
"No, fuck you and your mind games! Go back home or else.." she barked.
"Deanna Louise Destiny Amelia III is that any way to talk to your father?" He barked.
"Listen pal, I don't know who you think you are walking in here like you own the place.. but if she doesn't want you here then you need to respect that.." Leo began. He watched D rise from under the blanket and had a look of anger. She rubbed the tears from her eyes.
"I'm not going to kill those people. I'm not going to kill anyone.. They are innocent!" D cried.
"Just listen to me!" He begged.
"Why should I? So you can manipulate me? So I'll cave and go back to Amitopia with you and leave this place behind? Unless you are here to apologize and give me what is rightfully mine I don't want to hear it." D said getting up off the bed.
"Deanna! Just listen to me!" He begged once more.
"You don't get to call me that.. not after disowning me..." she spat out.
"Hunny.. please just listen to me ok? No games, no tricks, just talking ok?" Her father asked.
"You have five minutes. " d sigh.
"The palace has been destroyed and all of the commons folk are dead, the guards are all wearing away. The newer dragons are hatching and they will need a queen." Her father began.
"I'm gonna stop you right there. I don't want to be queen. I don't want anything to do with the royal stuff. What I want is for this planet to accept super powered human beings. I want to stay here and watch these creatures evolve! I mean look at this stuff dad, it's so cool.." d said showing the TV.
"We have stuff like this at home. But it's been so long without you Deann- I mean.. without you." Her father stumbled.
"I'm not leaving the earth." D continued.
"But hunny, think about it! You'll be drowning in riches, all the expensive stuff you want, cuter dragons, a bigger palace, A-" her father continued.
Leo paced the floor, thinking of something to do or say.
"I don't have time for this you are coming with me whether you like it or not!" Her father barked. He grabbed d by the wrist, dragging her behind him. D struggled, scratching and biting her fathers arm. Leo angrily snatched D's hand away from him.
"No!" Leo said pulling him away from D. D ran and hid behind Leo, whimpering softly as she did so.
"You aren't gonna just show up and take away my shield maiden. You'll have to pry her from my cold, dead hands.." Leo barked. His eyes were fierce and his hands emitted fire. He drew his stance, watching as her father began laughing.
"This pathetic thing is why you're staying here? He can't even use those powers can he?" Her father asked.
"Get out of my house.." Leo snarled.
Her father drew closer, causing Leo to go full attack mode. Leo grabbed his hand, tossing him over his head.
"Stay away from my princess! She's mine and no one will take her away!" Leo said throwing his arm in front of D.

Her father laughed menacingly.
"You, some pathetic dragon/ human abomination, wants to take my daughters hand and try to keep her despite not have a lifespan of more than around 75 years? You really are too much!" Her father cackled.
Leo struck him right in the face, sending him straight to the ground, his crown toppling into the floor along with him, rolling towards the wall.
"You talk a lot of shit for someone who fights like a bitch.." Leo scoffed.
D held on to Leo tightly, watching her father slowly get up off the ground. He charged at Leo, punching him in the face. Leo shook his head clear and threw another few punches before being punched in the stomach. Leo winced, returning the favor, sending the man into the wall. D's father snapped, opening a portal.
"This isn't over yet.." he griped walking through it, disappearing as he said so.
Leo fell to the floor, holding his stomach with both arms.
"Ooooh, that hurt so fucking bad." Leo said balling up. D sat beside him.
"I'm so sorry Leo.. this is all my fault. I-" d began.
"Don't start with that D, you couldn't have known.. just give me a minute I think I'm gonna hurl.." Leo said trying to sit up.
"Here, just hold still.. I hope I can still use it.." D sigh. She held her hand close the her heart and took a deep breath.
"I take this hand to lift your pain, the other to lift your sorrows." She whispered repeatedly.
D placed her hand on Leo's stomach, watching as it emit a golden light. Leo looked to D who was nervous as ever.
"Did it work? Are you ok?" D asked.
"Yeah.. that feels a lot better. Thank you.." Leo said standing up quickly. He helps D to her feet, hugging her tightly as he did so.
"I was so scared he was gonna take you away from me.." Leo began.
"I'm not leaving you Leo.. I've told you this.." d reminded.
"I know, I just.. I'm so scared of losing the one thing that makes me happy." Leo said squeezing her tighter.
D kissed Leo softly, dragging him to bed. His eyes welled with tears, bigger than a golf ball.
"Darling.. don't cry. I'm here. And no one will ever convince to leave you here." D said kissing Leo softly. Leo kissed her deeper, hugging her into his body. He kissed her like never before, causing both concern and joy from D.
"Darling?" She asked.
Leo hugged her tightly, burying his face into her chest. D played with his hair, watching as he slowly composed himself.
"Your name.. it's really pretty.." Leo complimented.
"Thank you. But I don't really like my royal name. So I just kept Destiny. Destiny Riole.." D explained.
"Well, that name is pretty too.." Leo said hugging d.
D smiled. She yawned into her hand and reached for the lamp. Leo and D went back to sleep hoping that this time they could sleep without interruption.
