Chapter 12: on the run

Leo and D lay down and wrapped each other in their grasp.

"So.. are you ok?" Leo asked.

"Why wouldn't I be?" D asked nervously.

"It's just, earlier today.. I felt so angry about what's happened... but I don't really remember any of it other than what happened to you.." Leo explained.

"Do you still have the file from earlier?" D asked.

"Yeah.. why do you ask?" Leo questioned.

"Will you play it again?" D asked.

Leo hesitated for a moment.

"Uh, sure." Leo said pulling it up.

""Oh.. well it's funny you say that. I let you catch me. Unfortunately, my friends were caught up in my mess.." Leo griped.

"And this thing-" the guard began.

"Watch how you talk about her. I'll kill you!" Leo griped.

"Your little princess? This ugly, pathetic thing.. sure she's eye candy. But did you know she caused the death of over 300 people in '95?" He asked.

"I don't give a shit. You have no right to talk about her that way.." Leo snapped.

"I-I didn't mean to kill those people! I just tried to save the little girl from that abuser! You know the story!" D spat out angrily.

"I wasn't talking to you, you abomination." The guard spat out stepping closer to her. Leo got angry. Very quickly.

" Hurt her and I'll break from this chair and kill you.." Leo spat out. The guard struck him continuously in the face, damaging some of the circuit.

"STOP! YOURE GONNA KILL HIM!" D screamed.

The guard extracted a knife from his pocket and smirked.

"Remember the scar you gave me all those years ago? Where was it? About here?" He asked, slicing D's face like a madman. Leo broke the leg restraints and couldn't budge the ones on his arms. He plucked he chair from its cement base and swung it over his head, crushing the guard beneath it.

"THAT'S My BaBY!" Leo growled. The force the chair used to hit the ground made the entire thing shatter. His voice modulator was busted due to the blows he took to the face. He took the guard by the throat, dogging his nails into his airway, piercing it so that he'd slowly drown and suffocate in his own blood.

He clawed the mans face, angrily going on a rage.

"No ONE WILL EVER TREAT HER LIKE THAT IN FRONT OF ME? YOU HEAR ME GOD DAMMIT? I'LL FUCKING DESTROY YOUR BLOODLINE YOU STUPID BITCH!" Leo screamed"

D smiled and held Leo.

"My fierce warrior.." she sighed.

Leo hugged her longingly.

"Thank you for letting me into your heart.." Leo said with a soft smile.

"I was so scared for you today.. you were so close to a brain injury, it was reckless and you could've died!" D began.

"I would happily die for you.." Leo said smiling without a second thought on the matter.

"I don't want you to die for me. Dying is easy, it happens and then it's over. I want you to live for me. Live for me so I can see you flourish... I don't want to be in this world alone..." D reasoned.

Leo hesitated as her words bounced off the walls surrounding his brain. He looked at D for a moment and smiled.

"You always know what to say. But you know I can't die right? Severely injured sure. But I couldn't die even if I wanted to.." Leo said stroking the weeping girl's hair.

D sobbed into Leo's chest. The thought of losing Leo scared her the same way losing D scared Leo. He held D close wiping her tears so that he could see her eyes.

"It's gonna take more than what happened today for you to get rid of me." Leo reassured her.

D pulled him closer by the collar of his shirt.

"Please stop leaving me out of these fights.." she said pulling Leo into a kiss. Leo held D and tried his hardest to soothe her racing mind.

D pulled away from him and lay still beside him, looking longingly into his eyes. She smiled softly and blinked a few times. Leo stared in pure admiration, smiling back at her.

"You're so pretty..." Leo said playing with D's hair.

"No I'm not." D said with a pout.

"My pretty, intellectual, strong dragon.." Leo said smiling.

"Stop talking.." d said clinging to Leo.

Leo chuckled

"My-" Leo began.

"I mean it, stop talking! I hear something.." d said leaping off of the bed and onto the floor. She listened intently and began to shake.

"They are above us.. there's at least 8 of them.." d began.

"So lets go take them out.." Leo said confidently.

"Leo. We both can't be in the sunlight.. and they have some sort of gas. What do we do?" She asked.

"I'm gonna cover you in clothes and I'll deal with it. And don't argue with me. We don't have time.." Leo taking off his long sleeved shirt. He quickly put it on D and reached for her sun hat. Leo reached in his bag and took out some sweatpants.

"Put these on and cover your face in this scarf." Leo demanded. D quickly covered herself and grabbed for an umbrella and the backpack full of food. The two climbed out of the hatch expecting an immediate fight. And they were correct.

Leo was swarmed by the remainder of the SSA's that hadn't been in the building they were kept in containment at. He rolled his eyes, beating them down like it was nothing. Suffering a few blows to the gut, he felt overpowered and incinerated them without a second thought. The sun pierced through the tree tops, burning Leo's skin. He held his arm and shook his head.

"Dammit this hurts.." Leo snarled.

D rushed to Leo with her umbrella.

"I know somewhere we can hide.. come with me." D said grabbing Leo's hand. He held D's hand as they made their way to this new location. As they walked, Leo noticed it was hard for D to keep up.

"It's so hot.. I'm gonna collapse.." d began.

"I'll carry you. Up you go," Leo said picking D up, bridal style. She blushed and freed her mouth from its cloth confinement.

She kissed Leo softly, smiling as she did so.

"You are one smooth little dragon I must admit.." Leo chuckled.

"I'm not little! I just haven't been able to tap into my real dragon form yet.." d argued.

"You can do that?!" Leo asked.

"You can too.. now that you have the proper markings and such.. " D sigh.

"Right now let's worry about getting to that shelter you were talking about.." Leo said determined to get D somewhere safe. His skin stung with the suns contact. He hoped that the sun would soon go away.
