Chapter 11: cherry stems

Leo and D searched the building and found the other three. They all looked at the other.

"Where do we go from here?" Ace asked.

"I say we go back home and make modifications.. since we won't have shackles to restrain us, if someone is waiting for us.. let's kill them too." Daniel explained

"I say we try to find somewhere else first and if not, then we can go back." Adam reasoned.

"You guys are missing the bigger picture, what if D has another blood fever? What are we gonna do? How are we gonna help?" Daniel asked.

"Daniel has a point.. what we could do, is make another bunker so that we could go to that one if they search home again.." Leo agreed.

"We could do that! I like that idea!" D exclaimed.

"I'll plan out the precautionary measures. All also buy furniture for it." Leo said smiling.

"We will send you and D back, and us three will look for a new place." Ace said as Adam opened the rift.

"D, let me go first.. I want to make sure it's safe.." Leo said walking through. D hesitated for a moment.

Leo turned on his thermal scanner, three of the SSA's were waiting in the dark. He smirked and walked closer.

"You guys just don't know when to quit huh?"  He asked.

Leo waited for them to jump out and smirked as one followed his thoughts. Leo's combat style was questionable but effective. Right foot, left hook, left foot, right hook, fire. He continued searching their home until one of them remained. He threw a sharp left hook before Leo incinerated him.

After inspecting the rest of their home, he found that no one was there. The rooms were empty. He walked through the rift.

"Alright, we're good." Leo said disappearing back into the rift. D jumped through it,  falling from the ceiling. Leo swooped her up and smiled.

"My hero~" D teased with a chuckle.

I got you a little something.." Leo said reaching into the backpack full of food.

"What did you get me?" D asked.

"Pick a hand.." Leo said holding both hands behind his back.

"Uhhhhhhmmm- the left one." D said smiling.

Leo changed the jar of cherries to his left and pulled it from behind his back. He smiled softly.

"You grabbed the cherries? You didn't have to do that.." d said smiling. She took the cherries and smiled, screwing the top off and took a big whiff.

"Leo,These have been soaked in vodka.." She said taking the cherries by the stem. D smiled softly as she began to eat them like a child eating candy. One turned to three and three turned to ten.

Leo smiled and watched D eat cherry after cherry, she drank some of the cherry vodka juice and smiled. D put the lid back on and tackled Leo in a hug. She smiled and hiccuped, her cheeks flushed.

"Thanks Leo!" She said smiling.

"Don't mention it.. I just wanted to do something nice.." Leo said smiling. D reached up with gleaming, innocent eyes.

"I.. I love you." D said with a small grin.

"I'm glad.." Leo said with a smile.

D waited for Leo to say it back. She grew anxious as the silence grew louder.

"Aren't you gonna say it back?" She asked anxiously.

"I thought it was implied.. but sure." Leo began. He dramatically flung his hands to D's rosy cheeks.

"I love you D." He said smiling.

He watched as D's face dropped and her eyes rushed with tears.

"You mean it?" She asked softly.

"Of course I do. At least... from what I know love to be. But isn't it a little early to be saying that kind of stuff?" Leo asked.

"I don't think so.. but if it makes you uncomfortable-" d began.

"It doesn't! I just wanted to make sure.." Leo sigh.

D rolled her eyes.

"I'm starting to feel like you just feel sorry for me.." d began.

"Your mind is just playing tricks on you.. I love you with my whole heart. Circuits and all.." Leo said scooping D into his arms.

"Then what are we waiting for?" D asked.

"I don't really know.." Leo said with a nervous chuckle. He held D close to his chest. She smirked and started laughing.

"What is it?" Leo asked.

"You have nice boobs for a guy.." she said with a chuckle.

"Why thank you. They have machinery that help regulate my body temperature. It's encased in silicon." Leo chuckled.

D rose to her feet, extending her hand out to him.

"Let's go play some video games. After today, I thinks we've earned it.." D said with a toothy grin.

"Sure.. sounds fun." Leo said smiling.

Leo and D walked from the living room into their shared room, and fired up the tv. They both grabbed for their controllers.

"What game should we play?" Leo asked.

"Mm.. how about Minecraft?" D asked.

"Ah, a woman of stupendous culture. " Leo joked. They readied a world and loaded in quickly.

"I'll build, you hunt." D ordered.

"Yes ma'am!" Leo joked.

The two went along their ways, D building a massive home, and Leo who gathered enough food to raise a village. They both finally called it quits for the night, saving and turning the game off.

"Wanna go maybe.. make some music?" Leo asked.

"Wait- I have a question.." D began.

"Umm, ok.. what is it?" Leo asked.

"What does your real voice sound like? Or is that your real voice?" D asked.

"Well. This is my real voice. But I can see why you'd be confused.." Leo chuckled.

"Oh.. ok I'm sorry I was just curious." D sigh.

"So what now?" Leo asked.

"We could go make music like you wanted.." d began.

"Yeah, we could finish that song." Leo chimed.

"Or I mean, hypothetically speaking we could cuddle or just hit the hay... but I'm down for anything." D said with a determined sense of pride.

"Yeah. We could do that.." Leo said smiling.
