Circus Freak

With a morbid curiosity

and satisfying dose of pity,

a young man gazed fondly at Sadie,

the sideshow's peaky bearded lady

My dear damsel, you don't belong here

Take my hand, you have nothing to fear

There's a big, wide world that offers much,

like chambermaid, clerk, poet, and such.

So it goes, Sadie left the circus,

knowing life has meaning and purpose.

And that young man, she never forgave

No one will hire a chick who won't shave!
