With Dad so sick, we thought postpone
Though prognosis was still unknown
Not sure, we decided to go
Eagerly entered the wave pool
But what happened next wasn't cool
Something the lifeguards didn't know

Bounced to and fro, my balance lost
Struggled to stand while being tossed
I heard a voice, "Are you okay?"
In the distance, a knowing gasp
To save my life, the wall to grasp
I persevered and made my way

Overnight stay, my death defied
My father died, on the next day
