The only reason I was so generous as to drive Rebecca home last night was because I didn't have school or work the next day, but if I had I would have told her, "I guess you're walking. Give me your keys." Since I didn't have to go anywhere the next day I woke up at noon enjoying yet another nightmare-less sleep. I thought a nice day in deserved a lazy day, but apparently Jason had a different idea when he ambled into the living room an hour after I had woken up.
"Get dressed because we're having some fun today," he told me groggily, while rubbing sleep out of his eyes.
"You don't work today?" I asked shocked that he was home, but then what he said sunk in. "What do you mean get dressed? Where are we going? Can't I just stay home and lay around all day?" I complained.
"Nope," he said poppin his p. "We're going to the beach today, so we can have fun on our day off. Oh, and bring your roller skates."
"You mean the roller skates that are buried under all my other shoes? You know I never learned how to use them and I'm not going to make a fool out of myself in front of other people," I let out in a huff.
"That's why I'm going to show you how to use them. It's fun once you get used to them."
"Okay, but I don't want to return home with missing teeth or a broken leg," I told him firmly.
"It's okay even if you did, I'm pretty sure you are bound to take someone else down with you. Kidding! I'm just kidding!" He added hastily as he saw me advancing on him. I stopped in front of him.
"Fine. I'll roller skate with you if you agree to let me teach you how to surf," I added smugly.
"Deal," he let out triumphantly. "Now go get ready," he said shooing me away with his hands.
About an hour later we were packed and ready. I dropped off Rebecca's car and then we were driving to the beach. Then I rememberd to ask him about Rebecca. "So, um, did you have a visitor last night?" I added a little shyly.
"No, why did someone come visit last night?" At this he became tense.
"No, no! Not for me. For you. You don't have to worry about any visitors for me."
"I'll always worry, little one," he said with a kind smile and he reached over to russle my hair.
"So?" I asked trying to change the subject from that to last night.
"Oh, um, yeah Rebecca came over last night, but she was completely wasted and I told her there was nothing else to talk about because we are never getting back together, like ever," I burst out laughing because he unknowingly quoted Taylor Swift. "What?" he asked curiously and I just waved it away. "Yeah, she's crazy," he finshed off.
"I doubt that. Maybe she really loves you?" I questioned but I did't want to butt in. "She talked to me last night after almost giving me a heart attack, but she sounded very sober for a drunk person."
" 'Drea, I know. She's not a bad person, she just needs to focus on herself before we can move on. I do love her, but she wants to put us before herself. The reason I broke up with her was because she quit school when I had needed to leave for two weeks on business and she didn't tell me until we got back. The bad part was that she lied to me and told me that they let her take those two weeks off. It's not that I don't love her it's just that I love her too much to let her give up on her original plan just for me." He explained all the while his expression getting gloomier with each word spoken.
"You're probably the best person that I know that would do something like that. She's lucky to have someone like you in her life, but maybe you should explain all of that to her. She sounded really hurt, so maybe you should tell her what's going on and then she can help make everything work."
