When I got home later on in the day I immediately went to do my homework. I had taken a shower and noticed and felt that I was sun burned. Great just what I needed, but of course sunblock was the one thing Jason would forget. It's not like he forgot to bring his steak that he grilled on our portable grill because that was more important than keeping our skin safe. Of course, I did have a good laugh when I realized he was so sun burned that he could barely move his arms.
I had done my homework and I guess I fell asleep because the next thing I knew, I heard a muffled ring. I tore off the piece of paper that was stuck on my cheek and searched through the rest of my scattered papers for my phone.
Through blurry eyes I read the name of the person that sent me the text message and I was just able to make out the name Alexi before exhaustion took over and I fell into a peaeful sleep.
The next time I woke up, I was fifteen minutes behind schedule, so I got ready as if my life depended on it. There is nothing more embarassing than doing the walk of shame into your college class because you were late.
I got ready in fifteen minutes flat which I would have to say is an all time record for me. I was kind of proud of myself for that little accomplishment.
I hurried into the kitchen to grab at least a granola bar since I didn't have time to have a decent breakfast. I found Jason sitting at the table and I couldn't resist giving him a big swat on the back. He let out a hiss of pain.
"How is my favorite cousin doing this morning?" I asked him and then I quickly moved away so he wouldn't retaliate.
"Ow! Why must you be so cruel? After I took you in? I fed you. I bathed you and I even gave you a bottle and that's the thanks I get?! You are the most ungrateful daughter I could ever have! I mean what am I going to do with you?" He let out in a huff.
I smirked at his little outburst. "Okay? You never did any of that stuff for me. My scholarship pays for the rent for you to allow me to stay here. So in a way you should be grateful to me because I pull around more than my fair share around here, including making you meals because we all know you can't even boil water."
"Whatever," he stuck out his toungue at me. "I made myself toast the other day and it didn't come out burned."
"Oh, is that why I found the first pair of burned toast in the trash?"
"Don't you have to be getting to school?" He asked trying to change the subject.
"Oh right! Bye!" I came over to give him a peck on the cheek in farewell.
"Even your kisses are lethal! I swear my whole body hurts. Never again are we forgetting sunblock again. Even if I have to super glue the bottle to your forehead, we are taking it!"
I let out a laugh at his crazy antics. For a twenty-five year-old he acted more like a teenager.
My first class seemed to drag on and I was thankful for the hour and a half break betwen my next class. I had just walked out of my class when I realized that I still hadn't checked the text message from Alexander. I kept walking toward the little café that was on campus seeing as how my stomach was growling because I had skipped breakfast.
I looked at my phone and saw that the text message was from Alexi, the name that I used to call Alexander when we were younger.
I know it's late. You're probably asleep since you didn't answer my call. Or you could be mad at me. It was always hard for me to read you, hopefully it has gotten easier now that we're older. Then again, I shouldn't pretend to know you since it has been six years. People can really change, but I have a feeling that you're still sweet 'Drea. You were always a person that always kept on loving and not expect something in return, but I know you're the kindest and purest person ever. Well, it has been six years and I would like to rebuild our friendship, so do you think we can go to lunch or dinner tomorrow? And you know I won't take no for an answer now that I have your number I'm just going to keep hounding you. Sweet dreams and I hope to hear from you soon. :D
That was probably the longest text message that I had received in a while. I had to smile at his words, but something struck a cord with me. "You were always a person that always kept on loving and not expect something in return..." Those were the words that rang in my head. I had changed in that perspective.
After all that I had went through this past couple of months I found it harder to get to know people and make friends. I didn't have the same social life as I did back home. Before the big ordeal, I was able to talk to anyone and befriend them, but now I was more reserved and I kept to myself. It was harder to trust people and let them in without fearing that they might hurt me in the end.
I was about to put my phone back in my pocket, but of course I hadn't been watching what I was doing and I bumped into someone. My binder and book hit the floor with some of my papers flying out.
"I'm so sorry! Damnit! I'm so clumsy! Are you okay?" I had bent down to grab my papers when two tan hands reached out to help me.
"Am I like a magnet to you? Whenever we see each other you slam into me," the voice was familiar because I had just read the message that he had sent me. He let out a chuckle and handed me my stuff back.
"What are you doing here?" I asked bewildered.
"I go to school here," Alexander answered simply.
"Oh. Well, sorry I bumped into you. You go to school here? I've never seen you around."
"Yeah. Since I finished most of my general education classes most of the ones I have now are for my major. I want to be a director and I do photography which is something else I want to do," he explained.
"Oh. That's good. Yeah right now all my classes are for my major. I passed all my AP classes during high school."
"Yeah, I passed most of my tests. But there was something I was going to ask you about. I see you haven't replied to my text," he acused with a smirk.
"Oh, um, that's what I was actually reading right now," I admitted shyly.
"Just now?" He asked surprised.
"Yeah. I feel asleep and I woke up late today, so I just came straight to class."
"Then today is my lucky day!" He exclaimed.
"Why's that?"
"First, I bump into you. Second, I get to take a lovely lady to lunch," he grins at me.
Realization hit me, "Oh, then I should let you go." I took one step to the side of him and he grabbed my hand.
"No, crazy. I was talking about you," he laughed. That was when I realized how rich his laugh sounds; it was something I wouldn't mind listening to more often.
"Sorry, I misunderstood, but I only have an hour before my next class," I admitted.
"That's fine, we can also go somewhere after your next class."
"Um?"
"Or are you busy afterwards? Are you meeting someone? Your boyfriend? If so I wouldn't want to interfere," he held up his hands and sounded worried.
I let out a laugh because he was the one babbling now. I looked at him and he had blushed.
"No, I don't have any plans."
"Oh, that's good then," he reached over and grabbed my hand. "Let's go! It will be just like the old days."
"In the old days, you weren't old enough to take me to lunch," I informed him.
"In the old days I wasn't your boyfriend, but I have a feeling that will change," he smiled.
"How do you know I don't have a boyfriend?"I asked.
"You haven't mentioned one," he answered simply.
"Maybe that's because I'm not looking for one anytime soon," I hinted.
"We'll see about that," he murmured as he dragged me to a restaurant on campus.
I had a feeling this was going to be a long hour.

Here's the third chapter! Their "date" will be in the next chapter. The next chapter will also be in Alexander's point of view, so I wanted to get in his head and see how he sees changes in Andrea.
The picture on the side is Jason.
