*Alexander’s POV*
She said yes! This amazing, beautiful, smart, funny, loving, cuddly, breathtaking girl agreed to be my girlfriend! My actual girlfriend! She had let me kiss her, just a small kiss but one none the less. So when she pulled me back in, I couldn’t help but deepen the kiss and let my emotions seep through. She returned my kiss just as passionately and I’m pretty sure we could have stayed interlocked for hours, but then we remembered we were in the middle of the diner so we managed to pull away from each other.
She was blushing so fiercely that I wanted to kiss her again because she was so adorable, but I knew that that wouldn’t make anything better.
We finished our breakfast and drove back to my parents’ house all the while we had our hands interlaced.
Once at my parents’ house, my mom dragged Andrea into the kitchen along with Ashley so that they can get started with all the dinner preparations. My dad, Derrick, Cody, Janette, and I decided to walk to a nearby park so that the kids could play and the men can talk.
We were sitting on a bench while watching the kids play on the playground when Derrick asked, “So, does Andrea feel like the one?”
“Hmm? I know that this might sound cheesy and unmanly, but I think I’ve known she was the one ever since I laid eyes on her. We know each other so well and I’ve never been able to talk to a girl the way I can talk to her. She’s made things so much better for me,” I addressed both my dad and Derrick because I know my dad was listening to what I was saying.
“I know that I mess around with you and like to get under your skin, but I’m happy for you. It’s been a while that I’ve seen you with an actual smile on your face. That girl looks like she’s done you some good,” Derrick commented and I was surprised that he didn’t throw in one of his usual gibes. I nodded with a smile slowly creeping along my lips.
“Andrea has always been like family to us. She is a good girl and she certainly grew up to be beautiful on the outside. I just do not want either of you to get hurt. Now, before you start back talking or defending your love for her, I want you to listen. I know that you have struggled before with al-” I needed to cut my dad’s speech off before he brought up things that made me uncomfortable.
“Yeah, yeah, I understand your concerns, but I’m doing much better now. It’s been months since I’ve, you know. I was dumb and childish back then, but my feet are steady now and I will not be going down that horrible path again,” I reassured. I like everyone else have had their fair share of mistakes, but I don’t like to dwell on them and that is exactly what I was trying to prove to my father.
My dad sighed before he asked, “Have you at least talked to her about what happened?” When I shook my head in a negative gesture he let out another exasperated sigh. “She deserves the truth son. You can’t start off your relationship that way. You won’t have any problems if you don’t keep anything from each other.”
“I know Dad; it’s just that I’m scared of what she will think of me afterwards. She hasn’t had the easiest time either. I know she is not judgmental, but the thing that scares me is that she has painted this picture of me that makes me seem almost perfect. I don’t want anything to taint the painting she has of me,” I huffed out. Talking about this was already giving me a headache. I didn’t want to tell Andrea about my past problems because I didn’t want to disappoint her.
