The next day Tobias approached me while I was sitting in an empty stairwell.
"Hey, what are you doing up here? I've been looking everywhere for you."
"I just found this spot, it's really quiet and peaceful... And kinda creepy but I like it."
"Yeah, well no one really goes up this stairwell because it's at the very end of the hall. What are you doing here?"
I just shrugged, not really knowing why myself.
"Okay, well mind if I sit?"
I scooted over on the step I was sitting on and made room for him.
We sat in comfortable silence for a few moments until Tobias cleared his throat.
"Do you wanna go with me and the guys to the ditch again?"
"After school or right now?"
"During lunch, but if not it's okay. You and me can go to our classes if you want."
"Just because I don't go doesn't mean you don't have to either." I chuckled.
"I know but, I'd prefer if you went. If you're not there it's not gonna be as fun anyway so I might as well stay at school, y'know?"
"Well when you put it that way" I laughed a little "Come to think of it, I don't really feel like going to my science class so I'll go."
"Great!" Just as Tobias exclaimed, the lunch bell rang.
"Come on" he took my hand and led me down the hall.

When we got to the ditch again, we were immediately greeted by all the people from yesterday.
Things were going well for a while, that was until someone "accidentally" flung a cigarette butt at me.
I looked over at Sarah who raised an eyebrow at me, facially asking "what?"
"Sarah, that wasn't cool." I heard Sid call her out.
"What? It was an accident, I didn't pay attention to where I threw it." She snapped back.
Everyone was quiet for a moment but then slowly regained their previous conversations and activities.
I looked over at Tobias and I could tell he was not happy with what had just happened. He then got up and walked over to Linde. I assumed Tobias said something about leaving because Linde's response was "Alright, I'll see you later man."
"Hey, come on follow me." He stuck his hand out to help me stand up.
I waited until we were out of the ditch to ask him where we were going.
"To my house, it's a few blocks over" he stopped walking and stood in front of me "I didn't want you being there anymore after what Sarah did."
"Oh, you're worried about that? Dude it's fine, it was a freakin' ciga-"
"That's not my point" he interrupted me "I don't want to have you in any situation where someone is messing with you. That's not why we brought you along to the ditch and I'm sorry a bad apple had to ruin it."
"It's okay Tobbe."
"Well come on, we can hang out in my room for a little bit and listen to some records."
~~
When we walked into his house I saw his mom sitting in the living room, painting something.
"Hey mom" Tobias called out, grabbing her attention "I brought a friend over."
She turned around to look at me and immediately stood up to greet me.
"Hello! You must be (Y/N). Tobias talks a lot about you" she shook my hand "it's nice to meet you.""It's nice to meet you too." I said shyly.
"Well, we'll be upstairs mom."
We walked up to Tobias's room and we sat on his bed.
"The records are over there, take your pick." he gestured over to the shelves in the right corner of his room.
As I walked over to the shelves I noticed the electric guitar he had sitting on a guitar stand.
"Hey, I didn't know you played guitar." I looked over at him.
"Oh yeah, I'm actually in a band too. Do you play?"
"No, I wish though."
"Well if you want I can teach you?"
"Yeah, that'd be cool."
"Alright, we'll start with some basic chords."
~~
By the time I was ready to go home, Tobias had taught me the pentatonic scale.
