*Clint's point of view*
It's been 3 weeks since Steve was taken and it's been rough, mostly for Natasha. After Tony managed to drag her down to the Care Unit to treat her arm, Nat left right after they put the cast on and went straight to the tracking room. She sat in front of those computers for about 4 days until she finally passed out and I carried her down to my apartment. She slept there for about 12 hours until she awoke from a nightmare, she looked shaken and traumatised when I shook her awake. She didn't say anything about it, I knew it was about Steve. She just shrugged it off and acted asleep so I would leave her alone. I heard her sob silently from the other room and then I heard the door slam.
Ever since then, Nat has been basically living down in the tracking room and she hasn't been to her own apartment in ages. Everyday she looks worse and worse. She yells at anyone who suggests giving up the search. I'm seriously worried about her. Her eyes are always puffy and her cheeks are always rosey red, she cries whenever shes alone but she doesn't want to seem weak in front of anyone.
I spoke to her a few weeks ago and she seemed torn.
"Nat, you seriously need to go get some rest!" I pleaded. She just stared at the big screen which showed a map of the world with numerous locations pinned. I was sitting next to her, trying to draw her eyes away from the screen.
"I can't rest." She said, emotionless. "Not until he's found."
"Nat, you need to rest. Your not in the right state of mind to search for him. I know your not going to listen to me but please at least try sleeping here. I'll stay with you and if anything pops up, I'll wake you immediately." I suggested but her face was the picture of an emotionless spy who is dying on the inside. It went quiet, silent. Only the noise of the computer running was to be heard. Then the silence broke.
"I'm an idiot." She said quietly, I nearly missed it. "I shouldn't have waited as long as I did to tell him I wanted to be with him. I should've fought. I never should have broken up with him. I love him." Her walls started to break and her tears were starting to show. "When i was sitting in the apartment with Tony after he left, he told me that Steve did this to prove he would do anything to be with me. In that moment, I realised how blind I am! How stupid I am! I should have fought harder. I'm ready to be with him and I hate myself because it took something as extreme as this to make me realise it!" The tears rolled from her eyes and I pulled her in for a hug. She grabbed my tshirt and cried harder in to my chest.
"Calm down, it's okay. It's okay." I repeated to try and let her see that it's not her fault.
"I need to find him, Clint." She said once she calmed down a bit. She now had her head resting on my shoulder, staring at the screen. "I need to make sure he is safe. I need to tell him."
"We will. I promise you we will find him. Whatever it takes."After that conversation, Nat finally fell asleep and I watched her, making sure she was safe from any nightmares. I saw she was shattered just in the way she slept. I can't just let her be like this until Steve is found! Whatever it takes. I will do whatever it takes to make her happy. So I called in my favour from our friend in Budapest. As I dialed the number, I looked up at Nat who lay silently dreaming. I have to call in my favour. I pressed dial.
"Is this Marcus?" I said, in to the phone when a man answered the phone with "Hello?"
"Depends on who you are. Who is this?" He replied. Typical spy technique. Don't give away your name to an unknown party.
"Its... Clint." I hesitated, hoping he would remember me.
"Clint? Clint Barton?" He said, his voice filling with happiness.
"That's me, Pal." I replied, smiling. It was so good to hear from him.
"Man! I haven't seen you in years! How's Natasha?" He asked and my smile dropped.
"That's what I'm calling about."
"She's not... she can't be..." He was clearly worried.
"She's here with me now, don't worry. She's fast asleep thankfully." I said and I heard a deep breath being released on the other end of the phone.
"Oh thank god! You gave me a heart attack! So what's up with her?" He said, his voice sounding relieved.
"You know that Nat got a Boyfriend? Well, he has been kidnapped and shes suffering. Shes never actually told anyone that she loves them and meant it but I know she truly loves him. I need you to find him for me. I just want to know where he is. Blue prints would be helpful if it's in a building."
"Sure thing. I need to know the Boyfriends name and when he was taken."
"His name is Steve Rogers and he was taken about 3 weeks ago from Avengers Tower." I replied.
"Wait?! The Steve Rogers as in Captain America!" He questioned, his voice increasing in pitch.
"The one and only." I replied and he squealed.
"Oh my god!! He has to be a dream! The Black Widow and Captain America! That is the most adorable thing! I'm so happy for them!" He screeched.
"They are adorable together! So, do you think you can find him?" I asked, hoping for one answer.
"Of course! I need sometime because the world is a big place. I'll email you." He said.
"Okay, cheers Mark. Good hearing from you!"
"You too! You two have really got to come back to Budapest and come see me! Maybe Nat can bring her boyfriend?" He asked, way too excited at the thought that he could meet Captain America.
"I'm sure once he's home, she isn't going anywhere without him!" I said before hanging up.Now we wait.
