Interlude

Lee Ryung was in total disgrace.

As far as the Park, Cho and Super Junior families were concerned, the overly dramatic gay man had dropped off the face of the earth. Kyuhyun had taken to blocking his number from both his and Misa's cellphones, which then resulted in the wedding planner bombarding the bakery's phone with calls in hope of profusely apologizing. When that effort was continuously met with the icy chill of Park Mikko's announcement that the empress was in no state for phone calls or visitors, Lee Ryung had turned in desperation to the Cho family.

Cho Sang Kyu had given him a loud, angry earful before hanging up on him.

Everyone refused to talk to Lee Ryung, even when he tried to profusely apologize time and again, and the staggering cold wall of silence that he encountered at every turn was beginning to fray his nerves.

At least, that was what Miyung gleefully reported whenever she called Misa.

Although the young assistant had once declared her boss' antics as a source of relief from the normalcy of life, Miyung knew RyRy's actions on the night of Misa's allergy attack had been inappropriate and shocking. She now considered Misa a good friend, and to have her put in danger because of RyRy's pigheaded pride was crossing the line.

Mining, of course, continued to go into work in the days that followed the incident, but it wasn't lost on her boss that her attitude towards him was increasingly becoming cooler and colder.

This time around, it had been Kangin who'd had to shadow Heechul, as the latter had promised on numerous occasions to "march over there and beat the holy, living crap out of Lee Ryung!" Heechul was now bordering on being hysterically pissed off, which wasn't good news for his members that shared an apartment with him. They were already subjected to his wildly changing mood swings and the fact that his little sister ("I'm oldest so she's my little sister first!") had been hurt under his watch, had greatly aggravated his antics even further.

On the other hand, it took three days for everyone to calm Kyuhyun down after bringing Misa home from the hospital. If his actions had shown he'd been angry when those fanboys had trampled his fiancée, then judging by that incident, he was now royally pissed. When he wasn't busy hovering over Misa or waiting hand and foot for the smallest request from her, he was out in the living room, pacing the hardwood floor, angrily muttering to himself. Zhoumi had tried talking to him from the safety of the couch, but when that proved to be useless (and resulted in his head being nearly ripped off!), he'd called in for reinforcements.

In the end, it had taken the combined efforts of Donghae, Siwon and both Kyuhyun's and Misa's fathers to talk some sense into the magnae. With the right amount of soothing and reassurance that Misa's current state wasn't his fault, Kyuhyun had finally let some of his anger go.

For her part, Misa had remained blissfully unaware of any of this. Confined to her bed and in turn, the bedroom, she'd spent most of her days following her allergy attack sleeping. Her throat still ached and felt raw, and her medication helped, but made her feel so sleepy. The swelling in her face was finally disappearing, which relieved her, as she no longer felt like she was trying to talk through lips the size of sausages.

Confined as she was, Misa spent her few waking moments on her laptop. Kyuhyun had forbidden her from doing work, so she'd taken to the internet to amuse and entertain her. Her stint in the hospital had been reported on some of the K-Pop sites as well as entertainment channels, but an official statement from Kyuhyun briefly explaining the situation had luckily prevented any nasty rumors from beginning.

The best part of her confining and sometimes boring confinement was that Leeteuk had called her a few days after, much to her delight. She'd squealed in surprise when the pop-up window through Skype had announced his call, and squealed even louder when his face popped up in a window from a webcam. She had excitedly greeted him and his familiar smile in return had nearly made her cry from the fact that she missed him. He fired off question after question about her health, explaining Heechul had sent him a short, but unenlightening email about what had happened, and that no one would answer his own email, wanting answers. After reassuring him she was fine and on the mend, the leader of Super Junior had demanded she gather all the members together, where he promptly ripped into them all for not protecting her better.

If he hadn't looked so furious, Misa would have laughed at the sight of Leeteuk scolding his dongsaengs via webcam. It was made even more hilarious with the fact that he was now sporting the requisite buzz cut that all military entrants were given, which somehow made him look fiercer than he'd ever looked before. Even Heechul and Kyuhyun, the most sarcastic and sometimes disobedient of the group, seemed to cower under his glare.

When a week passed, life finally seemed to slowly return to normal. Kyuhyun finally allowed Misa out of the bedroom, but never ventured far from her side. He even stood outside the door when she went to the bathroom, which was more hilarious than irritating.

Everywhere Misa went, Kyuhyun was there, right by her side, his handsome face concerned and worried. It was only when Misa smiled at him and assured him that she was fine (still a bit weak, but fine), did Kyuhyun's face relax a bit and his all too familiar smirk return. This, in turn, made his fiancée's face light up, for she truly loved nothing better than seeing him happy.

Once she turned away and focused her attention elsewhere, however, the smirk disappeared and the worry returned.
