04 - CHRISTOPHER

"Tell me you're not doing it," Zabdiel practically pleaded as he sat in front of Chris. "Tell me you were anywhere else but with her."

"Don't worry," Chris said as he prepared to lie straight to his best friend's face. "Stupidly enough I actually fell asleep at my desk."

Scoffing, Zabdiel moved back into his seat. "I don't believe you."

"I'm telling you the truth, Zab. I know it sounds like an utter lie but it's what happened."

He hates lying to Zabdiel but he didn't want to die. Zabdiel was very overprotective with Nina and if he found out he would kill Chris in an instant.

"I'll believe you. Now, can you please go home?"

"Home?" The brunet retorted. "Why?"

"What do you mean why? Carajo," he cussed in disbelief. "Quien te hizo así?"

"Mi mamá."

"Nina was worried sick. The least you can do is call the day off and stay with her for today."

He couldn't, he had promised Donna he would take her to a nice reserved place that was an hour away. Donna had been bugging him about a pretty prestigious place that she really wanted to go. As always Chris stupidly obliged without thinking.

"You know I can't, Zab."

"Fine," he huffed, feeling his blood boil at the sight of the man in front of him. "Then at least go home early."

"I'll see."

Christopher knew he was in danger because that sense of remorse he used to feel was fading away. The last thing on his mind was Nina, it was Donna who was taking his mind now. He was treating her as a priority and sadly he didn't feel bad about it anymore. He barely saw Nina anyway so she couldn't blame him for feeling lonely. The fact that the wedding was in three weeks slipped from his mind as he distracted himself with the red-head. He was taking things very lightly when really the situation was anything but light.

"Good morning, babe."

"Hola linda, wake up fine?" Chris teasingly hummed with a smirk.

Donna returned the playfulness as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "A bit sore but I'll get over it soon."

"Good," he grinned. "I want you to spend the day getting ready."

"For what?" She inquired while she placed a set of manila folders on his desk. "Your secretary told me to give you these."

"Did you forget already? I'm taking you to that place you really wanted to go."

The woman obnoxiously giggled into his neck knowing the effect it had on him. "Of course I remember! I was playing dumb."

Chris smiled before pulling away from her and walking back behind his desk. "Be ready at five. It's an hour away so we have to get there early so we don't miss the reservations."

"No problemo." Donna sensually smiled, thinking that her Spanish would add to the list of turn ons.

"Don't," Chris breathlessly chuckled at the cringey accent. "You don't have to speak it only because I do."

"But I would love to learn."

"Maybe some other time. Now go on and pretty yourself up."

"Yes sir. Oh, by the way," she said before fully exiting the door. "Did Nina say anything about yesterday?"

"Yesterday?"

"Yeah... about you not going home?"

Despite the conversation he had earlier with Zabdiel, it was evident that it meant nothing to Chris. Nina once again wandered away from his thoughts, leaving her feelings in the dust. If Donna wouldn't have had mentioned it he would've totally forgot that he hadn't seen her all day.

"Santo Dios, I forgot about that." He murmured, his eyes searching for his phone. "I'll have to call her to say I'll be home late."

Though he missed it, Donna's smirk never left her lips. Christopher was making things pretty obvious with the not coming home and getting home late. It was only a matter of time that everything would come out to the light. And Donna was waiting for that exact moment so she could have Chris all to herself.

"Before you do that," she smiled, masking her bad intentions. "Jimena said Santiago Romero is expecting a call from you. Don't make him wait."

"I'm on it. I'll see you later, hermosa." But before he could call the man, his phone caught his attention.

Zabdi
Por favor Chris try to get home early. Do it for Nina.

He felt it creep into his mind, that rather annoying feeling of remorse. Nina didn't deserve to suffer over someone like him but he couldn't find it in him to stop everything with Donna. He wanted to spend more time with the red-head but something in him also told him to end it early today. For Nina.

But he didn't. Because cup after cup and a moaning kiss, Nina became extinct from his thoughts once again.
