23 - CHRISTOPHER

"She curved you?" Richard laughed right into Christopher's face. "She really don't like you."

Christopher huffed, embarrassed at the whole situation. "I don't know what I did wrong."

"There isn't a law that you have to kiss on the first date, y'know?" Joel muttered as he put his phone down.

"Nah bro," Richard continued laughing. "You're done."

"She got so shy around me. She was blushing and she even flirted back! I think she even got kinda upset when I told her I went to that doble date."

"Now see," Richard looked at him somewhat disgusted. "Why did you have to mention that?"

"I told her what happened and she was fine with it. Relieved."

"You told her everything?" Richard asked, doubting his words.

Christopher pondered for a while before giving them a small smile. "Not everything. I didn't tell her we kissed but I did tell her we didn't sleep cause I didn't want to take advantage."

"I don't see why you're panicking," Joel calmly responded. "I'm sure she does like you but she just wants to take things slow."

Christopher knew this. He knew that not every girl kisses on the first date and technically he didn't mind that. He was panicking because originally, Nina kissed him on their first date. She told him she didn't care if he bought stale sandwiches or that he brought pumpkin pie as dessert. She told him she saw his efforts. He was genuine, very nervous and even shy. She told him that she liked him and kissed him. Why didn't she kiss him here?

"I think if she really liked him she would've kissed him," Richard gave his opinion with a careless look.

"The worst part is..." Christopher whispered, his left leg bouncing rapidly. "She hasn't replied to any of my texts from this morning."

"This morning?" Richard exclaimed in disbelief. "Oh no hermano. Move continents."

"Can you not discourage him?" Joel glared at Richard. "You're being dramatic, Christopher."

"She left me on read. What do you expect me to feel?"

"Oh," Joel mumbled. "She left you on read?"

Christopher glanced at him quickly before diverting his eyes back to his lap. "Well, no. She doesn't have her receipts on but-"

"Then stop jumping to conclusions. She's probably busy. I'm sure she will get back to you so just try to distract yourself."

"You're right," Christopher stiffly nodded. "Distract myself... we should make a tik tok."

Joel furrowed his eyebrows while Richard looked just as confused. "What the hell is a tik tok?"

"Those short videos? With voiceovers?" Christopher explained, confused as to why they were confused.

Joel still looked very conflicted. "Short videos? Don't you mean Vine?"

"I think he means Musically," Richard looked at Joel with the same expression. "It has voiceovers."

It only then dawned on Christopher that it was 2017 and Tik Tok didn't exist for them. He had been so immersed in trying to get things back with Nina that he forget that the era was totally different. He could definitely screw things up for the future if he keeps opening his mouth.

"Vine's shutting down though and Musically..." Joel winched. "It's very cringey."

"I don't know where I got tik tok from," Christopher nervously chuckled. "I meant Musically but yeah that's too cringey."

Joel sighed, patting his shoulder. "There are many ways you can distract yourself. I'm sure you'll find a way."

"You're right," Christopher shakily replied as he harshly rubbed his thighs to get rid of the sweat on his hands. "I'll find a way."

By 5, Christopher had given up checking his phone every fifteen minutes. Richard had left to go to his job and Joel went to class. Zabdiel had been too busy with his new girl Lara so he was nowhere to be found.

Bored out of his mind, Christopher decided to drink. It had been a while since he had a few beers by himself and just chill in his room as he watched a movie. By 5:30, Christopher had four bottles laying next to him and a bag of doritos chips. He was pretty drunk but managed to keep his eyes open to continue watching Harry Potter.

Just as his eyes were about to give in, a loud knock from downstairs woke him right up. He stood up but lost his balance pretty quickly. When did he become such a chicken head? He stumbled his way down the short stairs, giggling every time he was close to falling. He safely reached the door and opened it with a big smile on his face.

"Hello, Christopher. Today's your day."
