10 - CHRISTOPHER

"Where are you going?" Chris hoarsely whispered as he rubbed the sleep off his eyes.

"Out," Nina monotonously replied while slipping her brown teddy coat.

Christopher's eyes followed the girl as she sauntered to their dresser, taking a small pink bottle before spritzing it on her neck and wrists. Her hair was curled from the night before which she had braided quietly as she waited for him to come home. She wore his favorite red blouse along with a black skirt and dark sheer tights. Her black thigh-high boots gave the allusion of longer and slimmer legs which Chris never forgot to flirtatiously comment on whenever she wore them out on a date. She looked beautiful so much so that it confused him.

"Like that?" He stammered fully awake now, his big dumb eyes ogling her figure.

Nina stiffly smiled at him before checking her phone. "Yes."

"With who?" He further questioned, his mind panicking even more once he saw a small genuine smile on her lips after reading whatever message was on her screen.

"Joel," she said pausing to put her phone in her purse. "I promised him we would go see a movie two days ago but I couldn't. I'm rescheduling to today, we might eat out somewhere first."

"Oh," the brunet said relaxing on his pillow. "That's fine then."

"I couldn't make dinner sorry." She apologized but it didn't seem too sincere. She tried smiling at him once before bidding him goodbye. "See you."

Christopher was left in bed with a weird sensation roaming his chest. He didn't know what to do in the meantime since Donna wouldn't pick up or respond his calls. It was his first night home early and Nina wasn't there to spend it with. He wasn't sure of it first but the thought of Joel and Nina together was starting to bother him a little. Not so much that it made him paranoid because he knew that something between the two was impossible but the fact that Nina left him after wanting him home early for so long left him uneasy. Also, why was she so dressed up? Was she lying to him? Was she going to see someone else and just said Joel so he wouldn't suspect?

amor 😻
Ik you just left but what time you coming back?

Chris decided to binge-watch The Mentalist as he waited for his fiancée to return home. The time went by painfully slow each time he checked his phone. Every minute felt like an hour but an hour didn't feel like a minute. By 9:30, Chris began to have an unsettling feeling ripple through his body. Why wasn't she responding and why wasn't she here already? She left around six and it's almost ten, did the move last that long? She did mention they would eat out but even then it was already too late.

Chris
Hey bro, everything good? I've texted Nina but she won't respond and it's getting late.

Chris was about to push everything aside and call the boy but the small grey notification stopped him.

Joel
We're heading home rn. sorry.

The brunet felt as though he could finally breathe. He didn't know why he was feeling this way but it was probably because of his own sinful acts. He trusted Nina and not to mention Joel. If there was something going on it would have happened a long time ago. Yet the little voice inside his head told him to always keep Nina close when Joel was around.

Because el ladron cree que todos son de su misma condición.

I'm getting excited cause I'm ready to start writing the juicy parts 🤪

Thank you to all of you who have been voting and commenting ❤️ especially Elsa492 @birdiemami and @Rockmea1.

Also for those who don't speak Spanish, the last sentence is a pretty common phrase which idk if it is also known among English speakers or others places. The literal translation means "the thief thinks that everybody is of his condition." It means that since he is a dishonest person and obviously does bad things, he thinks that others are just like him.

Anyway, las quiero ❤️❤️
