06 - CHRISTOPHER

"Where were you, Christopher?" A stern yet trembling voice called out to him the minute he stepped inside his home.

"Hola, no?" Chris huffed under his breath, already agitated with the girl standing demandingly in front of him

"You want me to greet you normally after not coming home yesterday for the second time and with no warning? You're out of your damn mind."

"Nina, you can't get mad at me because of something I have no control over." He responded, his voice slightly increasing.

"I get it," she added. "You can never control work but at least tell me? You think I don't worry? God, you're such a-"

At the sound of her voice breaking, Christopher felt his heart jump. That heavy emotion pushed him from his daze and the sight of his fiancée breaking down hurt him. What was he doing?

"Nina," he numbly whispered before rushing to her side. "Perdóname. I- I didn't mean for this to happen. Soy un idiota, perdóname."

"Don't I matter to you anymore?" She whimpered, her lips jutting out and her eyes shakily holding his gaze.

"You matter so much to me," he automatically responded. "You always will."

"Don't lie to me." She blubbered helplessly.

"I'm not lying," he harshly spoke, his grip on her tightening for reassurance. "Nina, créeme."

"Where were you yesterday?" She said avoiding his plea.

"I- I told you already." He stuttered nervously because he couldn't remember if he had said it to her or not.

"No, you didn't." She sniffed, her red puffy eyes boring into his.

She was searching for something in his eyes and Chris knew this. She was good at deciphering his emotions and this made him uneasy. Clearing his throat, he fully wrapped his arms around her figure and carried her to the couch.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He rasped out as he laid his forehead on her shoulder, seeming ashamed of everything. "I'm sorry for putting work first."

He felt her soft hands caress his hair just the way he always loved. They were always so gentle and calming, sending waves of pleasure through his body. Her hands finally moved to each side of his face, cupping it.

"I know work is hard and I understand that you have to stay in late but please tell me beforehand? That's literally all I ask because if you don't I start thinking the worse."

"The worse?"

"Yes, worse. Like you getting into an accident."

"Oh," Chris mumbled, his voice faltering.

"Or even... whatever."

"No," he anxiously said. "Tell me."

"Forget it. I trust you and I know you would never."

"You thought I was cheating?" He defensively said. "Do you really think-"

"I didn't say that." She whined. "Stop putting things in my mouth that I never said. I simply said that it crossed my mind for a minute but I discarded of it because I trust you."

Christopher uncomfortably shifted before mustering up a small smile. "Right."

"I know you would never, amor. You showed me that I could fully trust you and you would never right?"

"Never even crossed my mind."
