"Are you excited to see your family again tonight?" I asked Ashton while we watched the waves crash against the rocks beneath us. I had a two hour lunch break and Ashton decided to pick me up at school to have lunch together. He drove us to his favourite spot by the beach, out of view from the crowd.
"Yeah, I haven't seen them since Christmas last year so it's been 10 months." He said with a small smile before taking a slice of the pizza that was inbetween us. "Do you want to come over tomorrow? After work" he asked and I could hear the slight nerves in his voice.
"But your family is going to be there, you should spend time with them." I replied softly and he nodded while he kept his eyes fixated on my face
"My sister and mom want to meet you. So do you want to come have dinner with us tomorrow?" He asked again with just as much nerves.
"I promised Amber we would get take out from her favourite restaurant tomorrow, I can't skip that." I said as an apology but he shook his head.
"Bring her. I'll order take out from that place and we will just all eat together."
"You don't have to do that, I could come over another time too." I tried once again but he wasn't having it.
"My mom said she would be mad if I didn't introduce you right away because apparently she wants to talk with you badly. So please, just come so I don't have to hear her ask about it every minute." He said with the softest chuckle and I let out a soft chuckle too before nodding.
"Just text me the time and I'll be there" I replied before taking the last slice of pizza. "Why does she want to talk to me so badly?" I asked suddenly a little worried.
"Because to her, you're the one that pulled me out of my mess. You saved her son from crashing down. Atleast that's what she told me, I'm never really sure with her." He replied and we both laughed while I watched him. He had changed so much over the past month and he seemed to have finally found himself again. He's constantly sending me bits and pieces of music he wrote and lyrics and he's smiling a lot more again.
