Richie's POV

It was a few weeks before Christmas break. At Derry Main high school we have special events that happen during the month of December.

Just like most high schools we have activities like Secret Santa or 'Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater' day.

Today at school was 'Hot Chocolate Day'.

The grade 12s were running it in the Cafeteria, and each grade would come with any cup and get hot chocolate if you bring 5 dollars to donate to some children's hospital. A very basic high school event during the Christmas season.

Beverly and I were pouring the hot chocolate, which wasn't a very good idea. As Eddie says, Bev and I "share a brain cell". Yes Beverly was a very independent woman and I was top of most of my classes, the two of us put together made one idiot.

"You guys are gonna be doing something stupid and rich is gonna flood the cafe with hot chocolate!" Eddie had told us this morning. I just laughed.

But he wasn't wrong. Even Beverly agreed.

We waited for the grade 9s to come into the cafeteria, but freshmen being freshmen they were fooling in the halls by the cafeteria. They're pretty much still grade 8s.

     I look over to see Eddie. Him and Bill were handing out wrist bands for show that they've donated and can get hot chocolate. They were also keeping track of the money, something which Eddie was extremely good at.

    He's either going to be a doctor or do something that involves money. I can just tell.

      I watch as he makes sure everything looks good, or at least tries.

     Richie laughs to myself as I watch. He looks up and locks eyes with me.

      I smile and wave and he blushes. He then walks over to my table.

     "If it isn't the cutest boy in Derry main!" He laugh.

      "Shut up." He laughs and smiles at Beverly.

      "Oh hey love birds." Bev says quietly and winks.

      We continue with our conversation but suddenly I hear a crash. The three of us turn our heads and see a taller boy.

     He's knocked over cups and over things, "Shit I'll be right back..." he go over to him to help.

     "Shit you ok?" He kneel down and laugh.

    "Yeah, I'm a dumb ass but it's ok." He chuckles.

       He stands up and he's taller then me, not by much but he's around stans height.

      "You new or something?" I ask.

      "Just came this semester." He nods and smiles, "Conner, and you are?" He extends his hand.

      "Oh I'm Richie." I smile as I shake his hand.

      "Cool cool cool." He nods and looks over my shoulder as Beverly who looking at Conner. almost examining Conner.

      "Is that Beverly, like Beverly Marsh?" He points as her.

       "Oh yeah, a cutie ain't she?" I smirk jokingly.

      "Wait, are you two a couple or something?" He laughs lightly. My eyes widen, "no no no, she's cute or whatever but not really my type."

       "I've heard a lot about her actually." He nods and puts his hand in his pockets.
