{Colby's POV}
I stuck my hands in the pockets of my black hoodie, eyes glued to the boring white floor as I swiftly walked through the school hallways. "The nights I drive alone," played in my ears, the music I loved oh so much making me forget about the boring day ahead of me. Triple maths. Who on earth made that legal?! I reached my locker, quickly unlocking it and shoving a load of unwanted school books inside, reluctantly unplugging my earplugs and placing them inside too. "Bro!" I heard from behind me, making me turn around abruptly. I was met with the cheery smile of my friend, Jake Webber. He had an unusual amount of energy for 9 o'clock in the morning, which made me chuckle. "What's up man?" I asked, shutting my locker and turning to face him. "Dude! You look like death!" He laughed, making me groan.
"Did somebody not get enough beauty sleep?" He joked, starting to walk as I followed.
"Not enough for my liking," i grumbled, earning a smile from Jake.
"What was it then? Up all night stalking Zac Efron's Instagram?"
I turned a bright red, softly punching Jake in the shoulder as he just laughed. I was openly gay, pretty much the whole school knew. And yes, I was known to have a pretty big celeb crush on Zac, but let's not elaborate on that. "You were weren't you!" Jake giggled. I responded by shoving him playfully and letting a laugh escape my own lips.
"You really are an asshole, Jake," I joked, to which he pouted. I just nudged his shoulder with mine and continued to walk, my soul a little happier than before.{time skip}
I sat grumpily in first lesson, tapping my pencil on the desk repeatedly as i waited for the teacher to start droning on about fractions and some rubbish I'll never understand. I reluctantly opened my maths book, sighing as I heard the teacher stand up and start writing some random numbers on the whiteboard. I rubbed my tired eyes and let my gaze wander to the window, looking up at the blue sky outside. I propped my chin up on my hand as I continued to stare out the window, trying my best to entertain myself by watching the clouds bob past. I narrowed my eyes in confusion though, as I found myself looking at a white fluffy cloud looking like a perfectly shaped crescent moon. My thoughts were interrupted though, by a loud knock to the classroom door. Everybody excitedly looked up, happy for something other than fractions happening in their maths lesson. The teacher placed her whiteboard pen on the table and walked to the door, opening it and smiling at whoever was on the other side of it. I couldn't see, as a boys head was blocking my vision of the door. "Class, it seems we have a new student starting today," the teacher started. I raised my eyebrows at this. A new student?
"This is Sam Golbach."
I shuffled over in my seat so I could see this 'Sam Golbach', and as soon as i did, my jaw dropped open. The boy was beautiful. He had light blonde hair, and a small smile tugging on his pink lips. He played nervously with the ends of the hoodie he was wearing, his eyes trained to the floor, his cheeks turning a light pink. The poor boy was obviously embarrassed, being made to stand in front of the class like this. I watched as he anxiously lifted his gaze of the floor and glanced out into the rows of students all staring at him. His eyes wandered around the room, finally landing on me. He seemed to freeze up, to which I smirked. I stared right back into his eyes, which were a bright shade of ocean blue. I smiled at him, and he immediately looked away, obviously embarrassed. "Now, where are you going to sit," the teacher wondered out loud, her eyes darting from one empty chair to the other.
"Hmmm, how about back there, beside Colby," she asked, looking at Sam expectantly. Sam nervously looked at me, nodding his head softly and walking over to me. He pulled the chair out from under the table and sat down. "Hey," I smiled. He looked at me when i spoke, instantly loosing me in his ocean eyes. They were immensely prettier close up. "Hi," he smiled back, pulling a pencil case out his bag and placing it on the desk. The teacher gave him a book and wrote some questions on the board for the class to do. Everyone immediately started talking amongst themselves, and I decided to take this chance to talk to Sam. I turned in my seat to face him, watching as he bit his lip in concentration as he wrote the answers to the calculations.
"Hi," I started. He hesitantly met my gaze, a smile playing on his lips as he did so.
"You have pretty eyes," I blurted out before thinking. I mentally face palmed, biting my tongue to stop myself saying anything else stupid.
"Thanks," he giggled. His voice was soft, and his laugh a noise I would happily play on repeat for hours.
"Your eyes are pretty too," he continued, nervously waiting my response. I just chuckled, watching his eyes light up at the sound of my laugh.
"Thanks cutie," I responded, watching him become a bright red, making me smile.
"Where did you move from?" I asked, scribbling down a few answers so it looked like I was doing some work.
"A few hours from here," he answered. I hummed, placing my pen down and facing him again.
"Why'd you move?" I questioned, frowning when his gaze moved to his lap.
"Uh, i- I uh, m-my dad got a new job," he stuttered. I raised my eyebrow, his stutter making me question his honesty but I brushed it of.
"Cool," I replied, not planning on making him any more uncomfortable than he had just become.
"Do you live near the school, or do you have to catch a bus?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"It's about a 10 minute walk," he answered, visibly relaxing again which made me smile.
"I live just down the road, bout 5 minutes," I smiled, watching him pull his jumper down over his hands.
"I like your jumper," I stated, reaching out to ghost my fingers over the small crescent moon sewn into the fabric just below his shoulder. He stared at my hand, seeming to frown slightly when i retracted it and placed it back on the desk.
"And I like yours," he grinned, hesitantly meeting my gaze again.
"Thanks, cutie."Hope this was a good start, it's slightly strange going from writing one shots to writing an actual book but I kinda like it better :p
