Grey eyes 🌙
{Colby's POV}
I looked around frantically, my heart racing out my chest. "Sam!" I called.
"Sam!"
Nothing. My stomach was plummeting, my heart was racing. "Sam where are you!" I yelled, hands cupping around my mouth to project my voice further. At least that's what I hoped it was doing. Suddenly, the bushes began to rustle. I jumped, stepping back. I blinked in confusion as Mrs Golbach and a man I didn't recognise stepped out of the bush.
"Colby?" Mrs Golbach spoke confusingly.
"W-what-" Colby trailed off.
"We heard yelling, what's going on?" The man asked. I'm guessing he was Sam's dad, they had the same eyes.
"T-they - Sam's gone," I stuttered, tears welling in his eyes. Mrs Golbach's eyes widened, and she instantly started glancing around nervously.
"The shadows! Colby where did they go!" She asked desperately.
"I - I don't, t-they're gone, I think," I cried, tears slipping down my cheeks.
"Sam!" Mrs Golbach started, beginning to walk around the field. I sniffed, glancing nervously up at Mr Golbach.
"It's alright, son," the man reassured, following his wife and continuing to shout his sons name. I joined in, jogging around the some - what empty field, heart plummeting everytime my shouts for the blonde boy fell on death ears. I felt sick, my heart was in my mouth and tears were falling from my eyes. "Sam!" I called once again, a sob getting stuck in my throat causing me to sob loudly. My eyes travelled around the field, slowly filling with light as the sun came up. Wait, the sun? I checked my watch. 6am? How could it be that time already? Sam and I left the house at about half 1? I was so confused, my head was pounding and I just wanted to find Sam. "COLBY!" Mrs Golbach screamed. I turned around, to see the two elders crouched on the ground. I broke into a sprint, racing over to them, and what I saw will forever be stuck on my mind. Sam was led on the floor, eyes shut and skin pale. Rosiness no longer danced on his cheeks and all life seemed to be sucked from him. But his chest was still slowly moving up and down, a sign he was still hanging on. I knelt down beside him, tears falling faster than before. "This is what happens, when they find us," mrs Golbach sighed.
I gently moved my hand to Sam's hair, pushing it back of his forehead. His eyes were rolling underneath his eyelids, and for a split second they opened and looked at me before falling closed once again. And one thing struck me, something that made me sick to the stomach. All the blue had been sucked from the blondes eyes, leaving a dull grey.
"H-his eyes," I whispered.
"We need to get him to the waterfall," mrs Golbach instructed.
"Colby, do you think you can carry him?" She asked me. I nodded, my shaky hands gently sweeping Sam up bridal style. His blonde head rested against my chest, his arms and legs going slack as I held him close.
"We'll explain everything, alright," Mr Golbach promised, slowly walking away, beckoning me to follow.
"Y-you aren't p-panicking," I blinked, heart racing.
"This wouldn't be the first time this has happened."
The man led us all to the weird bush, pushing the branches open and letting me through. I stepped through, confused when i popped out the other side, into a small clearing. A waterfall was in the corner, just as Sam had described.
"W-what-"
"You speak to nobody of this, Colby," mrs Golbach warned. I nodded, holding Sam closer to me.
Mr Golbach walked us over to the waterfall, and I watched in confusion and in awe as he flicked his hand, and the water parted, leaving a walkway for us all to walk through.
"Come on," Mr Golbach said, walking himself through. Myself and Mrs Golbach followed, and we ended up in a small room. It was nothing much, 4 beds and a sofa. But it was cosy; whatever it was. There was a girl, slightly older than us huddled in the corner, holding a younger boy close. Sams siblings, if I had to guess.
"Don't worry you two, Sams fine," mrs Golbach reassured.
"Did they get him, mum?" The girl asked.
"Yes, Ali, I'm afraid they did," Mrs Golbach answered.
"This is Colby, don't worry. He's friends with Sam," Mr Golbach explained. I tried to smile, but tears were still trickling down my cheeks. Nobody else seemed to be frightened though, except from the young boy. Like they said; this has happened before. Mrs Golbach pointed to a bed, telling me that it was Sams. I laid the blonde onto it, gently pulling the blanket to his chin. I went to walk away, but Sam slowly stirring pulled me back.
"C-colbs," he whispered, his voice strained.
"Yeah, yeah I'm here," I smiled, trying to be reassuring.
"S-stay," he asked brokenly. So I did. I stayed with him, my hand playing with his hair as soothingly as I could. Mrs golbach came over and sat by us, sitting down at the end of Sams bed; and then she spoke
"I think it's time I tell you what's going on, don't you."This is getting so weird I don't know how to continue from here lol
