{colby's POV}

I pushed through the crowded lunch room, searching for one person in particular. Finally, I saw a tuft of blonde curls in the lunchroom. Sam was sitting on a table with a few of our other friends, including Jake, Corey and Elton. I shoved past a few people, apologising every time I bumped shoulders with a random student. After some time, I finally plonked down in the empty seat beside Sam. The blonde jumped at the abruptness of my action, but soon relaxed when his eyes settled on my face.
"Hey jumpy," I smirked. He rolled his eyes playfully, making me smile. The rest of our friends shared a knowing look, which I saw but hopefully Sam didn't. They all went back to eating lunch and chatting amongst themselves, which gave me the perfect opportunity to talk to Sam. But before I could say anything, Sam beat me to it.
"Some girl saw I was wearing your ring," Sam stated. I blinked. Wow what a conversation starter.
"Really? Who?" I asked, turning completely in my seat to face him.
"Some brown haired girl. I, uh her name was... uh, Shea," Sam finally managed to get out. I rolled my eyes and sighed heavily. Shea was my ex girlfriend, before I came out as gay. And let's just say, she wasn't too happy about it.
"What did she say?" I asked, scanning Sam's face which was looking down at my ring on his finger. He began twisting it, pulling it of his finger and putting it back on again, which made me smile.
"Nothing. She wasn't mean or anything. Just asked why I had it," Sam spoke softly, his eyes coming up to meet mine. I relaxed after that sentence left his mouth. Let's just say, Shea is known for being able to throw a pretty mean punch.
"Yeah, well if she ever bothers you, come to me. I'll sort it," I reassured him, to which he nodded. A light blush crept onto his pale cheeks, bringing yet another smirk to my lips.

We talked about everything and nothing for the rest of lunch. The whole world stopped, and it was just me and Sam, laughing and joking. I looked at my phone to check the time after a little bit.
"We only have 5 minutes of lunch left," I groaned.
Sam giggled, the adorable sound bringing a shimmer of happiness to my eyes as I absorbed the sound.
"Well, I better ask this quickly then," he said.
I raised my eyebrows.

"Ask what blondie?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to come to mine after school for dinner," Sam explained, eyes diving into mine.
"Course, yeah that'd be great," I replied, with probably the stupidest smile plastered on my face. Sam smiled too, eyes shining with happiness that made my heart skip a beat. God, he was so precious.

After school, I met Sam out the front and we started the walk to his. He didn't live too far away, probably just a little further than me. When we made it to his, my jaw dropped. His house was so pretty, even from the outside. It was just a little cottage, but it had roses growing around the front door, and it gave of the calmest feeling that I can't even explain. I smiled down at Sam.
"Your house is so cool," I told him as we walked to the front door. He shrugged his shoulders, opening the door and stepping inside. I did the same, kicking of my shoes as Sam put his on the shoe rack by the door. "Hey mum!" He called, stepping into the hall. I followed him, looking around his house as I did so. "Yes honey?" a female voice shouted from another room. Sam and I followed the voice, and when we entered the kitchen, Sam's mum was folding some clothes and placing them in nice little piles.
"Oh, who's this?" his mum asked, as she stopped folding and looked at me.
"This is my friend, Colby. I was wondering if he could stay for dinner?" Sam asked, twirling the ring around his finger yet again.
"Course, that's fine. As long as..."
"Yes, yes I know. He will be, don't worry," Sam interrupted. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him. He didn't meet my eyes, instead he continued staring at his mum. She nodded, giving Sam some weird kind of look and then went back to folding the clothes. "I'll call you two when dinners ready. It's nice to meet you, Colby," sams mum smiled.
"Nice to meet you too," I replied.
Sam began walking away, and I followed.
"What was that all about?" I asked, referring to the whole 'don't worry, he will be' thing.
"Nothing, don't worry bout it."

We ended up migrating up to Sam's room. He had a tv in there so we ended up watching a movie. Sam had a double bed but nothing else really. There were still boxes piled high in corners of the small room but what made me smile was the crescent moon keyring laying on top of one of them.
About halfway through the movie, Sams mum called us for dinner. I furrowed my eyebrows and checked the time on my phone. 4:30pm.
"Damn you guys eat early," I gaped, standing up of the bed.
"I don't normally eat till like, 6," I continued.
Sam shrugged his shoulders, walking out the room, beckoning me to follow him. We ate dinner normally, making small talk with sams mum who seemed relatively normal. She was nice, asking me about school and what subjects I liked. When we'd finished we helped sams mum clean up and then went back up to sams room, plonking back onto the bed and resuming the movie. We sat in comfortable silence as the move buzzed in front of us. After a while I started to realise how close I was sitting to Sam. Our legs were touching, and we were pretty much shoulder to shoulder. My face flushed bright red, butterflies swarming around in my stomach at top speed. And then Sam did something I never thought he would do. Before I could process what was happening, his blonde head was laying on my shoulder, his curls tickling my chin.
"Is this ok?" He asked softly.
I smiled to myself, throwing an arm around his shoulders to bring him closer.
"Course, cutie."

{time skip 50 mins}

The movie finished, and me and Sam were still pressed up against each other. His blonde head was still resting on my shoulder, his breathing calm and gentle. For a second I thought he might be sleeping, but he soon moved his head to stare up at me. His eyes dove into mine. Ocean met the sky, and it sent a chill down my spine.
"Your warm," he sighed contently. I giggled fondly, resting my head on top of his. Suddenly, our moment was ruined by a knock on the door. Sam groaned quietly and peeled himself of me. I scooted a little away from him, so it wouldn't look so suspicious and sighed at the loss of sams warmth. "Come in," Sam spoke.
The door opened, and sams mum poked her head around the door.
"Everything ok?" she asked.
"Fine," I answered, smiling at her. She nodded, and then stared straight at Sam. She gave him that weird look again, and Sam nodded at her.
"Right, good. Good," she smiled, before leaving, shutting the door behind her.
Sam sighed, and turned to me.
"Uh, I - I'm sorry b-but," Sam started, but I cut him off.
"you need me to leave?" I finished for him.
He sheepishly nodded his head, and I just smiled.
"That's fine, Sam," I told him, hopping of the bed and grabbing my bag.
"Let me guess, your mum likes guests gone before 8 o'clock?" I grinned, raising my eyebrows at him.
"Something like that," was his response. I got a weird feeling from that sentence, but I shook it off.
"I'll let myself out, don't worry. See you at school tomorrow," I told him.
"Yeah, see ya," Sam breathed, bringing his knees to his chest. I waved at him and then left the room, jogging down the stairs, slipping on my shoes and leaving. I shut the door behind me and began walking down the street. Dinner at 4 o'clock, guests gone by 8? His mum really had a thing for time.
