{Set in their school}
{Colby's POV}
I walked into school with a sigh, not ready to be back in this building again. God, it had to be the most boring place in the world. I heaved my heavy bones through the bustling corridors, finding my locker and bunging all my stuff in there, happy to get the heavy books somewhere that wasn't my bag. I shut the door of the locker, but before I could lock it back up, somebody grabbed me by the shoulders. I jumped violently, spinning around to be met with the face of Jake webber, who was currently laughing his head of after gaining a rather comical reaction of me. "Jake! Not cool man," I said seriously, trying to keep a straight face, but the sight of my best mate loosing it from laughter in front of me tugged a smile to my lips and soon we were laughing together. Once we'd both calmed down enough to hold a conversation, I spoke.
"Is there anything you wanted in particular?" I asked, beginning to walk to down the corridors, Jake next to me.
"Yeah, actually there was. Did you hear that Mike, Kevin and Ariya are throwing a party?" Jake answered, smiling when my mouth hung open.
"No way!" I gasped. Mike, Kevin and Ariya were known for throwing THE BEST parties.
"Yeah, the whole schools invited," Jake continued, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"When is it?" I questioned, already planning inside my head what I was going to wear.
"Tomorrow night, at Mike's house. His parents are on holiday," Jake explained.
"Nice!" I smiled, punching the air. Jake chuckled and shook his head.
"You get way too excited, Colby."{time skip}
I traipsed miserably into maths class, but my bad mood seemed to to disappear when I saw Sam. He was sat in his seat, playing with his jumper sleeves. I walked over to him, pulling out the chair and sitting down next to him. He glanced at me and smiled.
"Hey," I grinned, pulling my maths book out my bag.
"Hi," he said back, facing the board when the teacher coughed to get our attention.
I didn't really pay attention to what she was saying, I was too busy smiling at the ring placed on Sam's finger. It was a small, dainty ring. Not like the big chunky things I wear on all five of my fingers. It was a small silver ring, with a crescent moon carved into the metal. I smiled to myself happily, however my good mood soon disappeared when I saw the questions the teacher had gotten up on the board. The classroom erupted in chatter as everyone began doing the work, and I took this opportunity to talk to sam.
"Hi," I said again, turning in my chair to face him. He looked at me, throwing a shy smile my way.
"I like your ring," I smiled, nodding to his hand.
"And I like yours," he said back. I smiled when he reached out, taking my hand and looking at all the rings littering my fingers. He ran his fingers over each one, until he came across one specific ring. It was the smallest ring I owned, a simple silver circle of metal with tiny stars engraved around the sides. "Especially this one," he smiled, taking his hands away. I smiled at his cuteness, and bought my hand up to slip of the ring and place it in front of Sam. "Keep it," I shrugged.
He looked at me, eyes lighting up.
"Really!" He exclaimed.
"Really," I smiled.
He took the ring and slipped it on his finger. It was a little big but he seemed to be satisfied with the fit because he didn't take it back of again.
"Thank you," he breathed, running his fingertips across his new ring.
"No problem," I smiled.
"Oh Wait Sam I was supposed to ask you something!" I said suddenly.
"What?" Sam giggled.
"Have you heard about the massive party mike, Kevin and Ariya are having?" I asked.
Sam nodded his head yes.
"Well I was wondering if you wanted to come with me and my friend Jake," I said, hope filling my words. Sam sighed, shaking his head. "I can't. It's too late. I have to be home by 8 o'clock. Remember?" Sam frowned, looking down at his hands. I groaned, poking Sam's arm which made him smile.
"But, it's just one nightttttttt," I sighed.
"I'm sorry, I can't," Sam shrugged.
"Surely your mum wouldn't mind just this once?"
Sam shrugged, looking me dead in the eye.
"I'm sorry, maybe some other time."
I poked Sam once more in a useless attempt of getting him to change his mind. He just laughed at me and went back to doing his questions. I just sat back in my chair, fondly glancing at the blonde mystery beside me. He was hiding something, I could feel it. But I wasn't going to push him. It's his choice. He can tell me when he's ready.Just a short little chapter for you 💝
