{colbys POV}I laid in bed beside Sam, listening to the soft sound of rain splattering onto the windows. After ringing my mum to tell her I was staying at Sams tonight (which was kinda true) I'd tried to get some sleep alongside sam, but it was no use. It felt amazing having sam in my arms, don't get me wrong, but when he was so fragile and pale it scared me. I tried not to move, not wanting to wake him up, but it was hard not to. My leg was numb and my hand had pins and needles. I moved slightly, and sam whined, shifting in my arms. He cuddled closer to me, and I smiled.
"Hey baby," I whispered into his hair, gently combing his hair away from his closed eyes. Sam hummed, his arms weakly tightening around my waist. He pulled himself closer to me, and I happily obliged, shuffling closer to the sleepy blonde. His eyes opened slightly, glancing up into mine. The dull grey still made shivers run down my spine, but I smiled at him all the same.
"Sleep good?" I asked. Sam didn't respond, instead closing his eyes and snuggling back into my chest. I chuckled, my hand slipping under his jumper and running across the skin of his back. The skin to skin contact made sam smile happily, and it made me relax also. After 10 minutes of laying there in silence, Sam moved again.
"C-cold," he whimpered. I held him tighter, reaching down and grabbing the extra blanket at the bottom of the bed and draping it over sam. He sighed contently, snuggling closer to me once again and nuzzling my chest with his cheek. I ran my hands up and down his arms, the friction warming him up immensely.About half an hour later, I had to stand up to grab some water, much to Sams avail. He groaned unhappily as I slipped out of bed and grabbed one of the bottles of water which were sat on the side. I undid the top, taking a few gulps and then returning to Sam. I helped the blonde sit up, and then slipped back into bed with my arm around his shoulders. He leant against me, turning his face into my neck when I tried to get him to drink. But after me pestering him constantly for a couple of minutes, he gave up and took a few sips. I smiled happily at him, screwing the lid back on and putting the bottle on the floor. Sam closed his eyes again, slumping down so he was laying with his limp head in my lap. I combed my fingers through his hair, leaning down and pecking his head every few minutes. The soothing motion sent sam straight back to sleep, but I stayed awake, my eyes wide open and anxiety swirling in my stomach.
