The cold air that I felt on my skin made me shiver out of my slumber.
Rubbing my eyes, trying to adjust to the brightness that was currently blinding me. Looking around I found myself in the back of a car, aware that what happened last night wasn't a dream.Panic grew over me quickly when I looked at my surroundings, emptiness.
Where was Miles, or even the weird driver, who's name I never got?
I removed the sheet off my body, and I quickly opened the door to the car.
Fear riddling through me as I inspected my current surroundings, dirt road, trees cascading around the car, nothing but woods for what could be miles away. The sound of birds chirping and cars breezing by every few seconds.
"Miles?" I yelled out, fear trickling behind my tone.
No response, only the sound of the wind whistling through the trees. Even with the bright sun out, the air was cold as ice.
Shivering I quickly grabbed the poorly thin sheet I had, and I stepped out of the car covering myself as I took slow steps checking my surroundings.
I heard the snap of a twig, making me shoot my head to the direction quickly.
"Hey. Your awake." Miles said, stepping out of the woods holding a few plastic bags and a canister in tow. He was warmly dressed in a puffer jacket, a skully hat and scarf with fingerless gloves.
"Where did you go? Where are we?" I asked completely confused and lost.
He walked over to me, with a smile on his face kissing my cheek once he was close enough to me.
"We ran outta gas while you were asleep, so I ran back a few miles to a general store and gas station. I tried to be back before you woke. I'm sorry princess." He cupped my cheek guiding me to look at his beautiful blue eyes.
He made my heart warm and fuzzy, making me forget the bristling cold that was currently surrounding us.
"I was scared, I woke up and didn't know anything." I spoke softly looking around then at my shivering hands.
"I'm here babe." Miles caressed my face lightly before giving me a quick peck on the lips. "Let's get you warmed up." He went into one of the bags after placing the canister down, revealing a puffer jacket for me, along with a long sleeve sweater and a hat and gloves.
"I kinda figured your size, it might be a tad big." He said giving me the sweater to put on, then handing me the jacket. Once I had the items on, my body felt nice and toasty. Miles smiled approvingly at me before he put the hat on my head and smiling big.
"Better?" He asked, pulling me into his arms.
I nodded with a smile.
"Where did you get this all from? We have no money." I asked suddenly realizing the obvious, stepping back shaking my head.
Ugh, I hated the feeling he was gaining over me. Making me forget my common sense.
Or was it just me?
Was it my disorder kicking in since I hadn't taken my " meds for a few hours?
Am I finally going crazy?— again?"There was a few credit cards in the wallet that was in the glove compartment and some cash." Miles spoke pointing at the glove compartment making me look at it through the passenger side window.
"And what about the guy that was driving before I fell asleep? Where's he?" I started to pace back and forth as my mind began to race so quickly and I started processing things, scenarios in my head, worst cases.
"We parted ways, while you were asleep Evie. He had plans of his own." Miles spoke to carefully, calm and collected almost.
"What does that even mean Miles? This doesn't make sense! You used stolen cards, they can trace that back to the last location and then what? They probably have the license plate as stolen so we'll get pulled over." I was rambling, pacing back and forth feeling the gravel underneath my poorly mistaken sneakers, feeling very Little Rock, pebble, and sand.
"Hey, hey. Relax. I know what I'm doing Evie. This isn't my first run away." He placed his hands in mines, giving a tight squeeze. "I switched the plates miles back, again you were completely unconscious. As for Robbie, the driver. He had me droP him off at a gas station where he made a call and he hitched a ride to wherever. Our agreement was he get us out and I would support him with a ride to wherever he needed. We both lived up to our deals. I got ya gas enough for us, to get to the next town or two, so we can meet with some friends of mines who are gonna help get us to we're we need. From this point on, we have enough cash to hold us to our next destination." His eyes penetrating mines as he spoke so softly and well adjusted.
"Im hungry." I blurted out randomly, making Miles laugh.
"I figured, I got you a breakfast sand which and some snacks for the road." He brought the second bag up to eye level with me.
I hungrily snatched it and went into the passenger side of the car ripping off the foil from the sand which and inhaling it in a big bite. "Thank you." I spoke with a mouth full of food.
Miles just smiled and nodded. He then went to back of the car with the canister and he began putting the gas in the small hole, I watched him through the rear view mirror feeling incredibly captivated by his wild beauty. He looked so different, but the same to me, I couldn't explain it.
He saw me staring through the mirror, he turned on his boyish smile making me blush and turn away as I finished the last little of my sandwich. I felt thirsty so I wandered into the bag looking for a drink, and there I found a small stuffed chick.
"I was going to surprise you." Miles said opening the driver said of the car and sitting.
I smiled like a school girl no doubt unable to hide my feelings in this moment.
"I love it!" I exclaimed, giving him a hug and kissing him instantly.
Our lips began to feverishly love in sync to one another as his hands went to my face pulling me
Deeper into our passionate kissing."I love you Evie." He said once we broke from our kiss.
My heart stopped for a second and then it seemed to burst at just the sound of him saying those words to me. This rush of electronic shock ran through me and I felt like I was being awoken for the first time in a long time.
"Say it again." I said holding on this beautiful face, looking deeply into his baby blues or faced only a few centimeters apart from one another.
"I love you Evie. I love you." He said them again with this huge grin of his face. His beautiful slightly pink lips and those beautiful straight white teeth.
His hands went to my cheeks, rubbing my cheeks lightly, he pulled me into his lips again slowly and tenderly.
"I love you Evie I promise to take care of you." He whispered before his lips met mines soft, almost feather like.
He was literally capturing my breath in his, as our lips became one as well as our spirit.
In the middle of nowhere in a stolen car, two lost souls became one in the most beautifully broken way possible.
