26. Fear and Doubt

FEAR AND DOUBT

Hi, do you happen
to know who we are?
I guess you do.
Who wouldn't?
It's just that people
considered us as an enemy
and I don't know why.
Well, we are twins -
I am Fear and she is Doubt.
Hearing our names,
people tremble.
We are doing nothing but
people think we are parasites -
afraid that we will take
something in them.
We are not doing anything
but they think
we will destroy everything.
What? We're just
enjoying the things we see.
Is it our fault to see
people not trusting
what they can do?
For not trusting theirselves?
Is it our fault
that people think twice
of their capabilities?
To be honest,
I pitied our condition
because we have
nowhere to live.
But you are too kind
and too affectionate,
that even if you do not know
who we are,
you give us place to live -
living INSIDE you.
So, please don't shoo us away,
we already enjoyed
living inside you -
slowly destroying
your trust within yourself
especially your confidence.
One thing you can do is
to push us away,
but I am telling you this,
once you shooed us,
never try to welcome us again -
because if you do,
I won't ever leave you; and
I will definitely destroy you.
