When it comes to offerings I have scraps of information that other Heathens and Pagans have told me. Some of the info I have is from both reconstructionist/universalist Heathens and the standard Heathen and Asatru party. For everyone the offering is different. For me I get food or flowers and wild fruits and nuts. (Whatever I can get at the time) and place it in my offering bowl.
I either stand or get on a knee and say my thanks or pray.
What I usually say is: Hail the Aesir the Vanir. My ancestors the wights and the Hulder and Nix. (After that I say whatever else.)
If it's to a certain deity say Eir I will go: Lady Eir Goddess of healing. Guide and aid (whoever is recovering's name) help them mend their body and ease their pain.
After that I leave the offerings in the bowl for a few days and after that I place it outside for animals and wights. Or to just return to the Earth.
That's just me though. Not everyone does this and I only have one inside altar while others have at least one inside and one outside. That's a photo of my latest offering. A persimmon and some wild flowers that aren't already dead.
