Modern Norse Pagan.

Norse Pagan in the modern era is far from the way the Ancient Norse practiced pagansim.

The Norse Paganism today is often dubbed Wiccatru or Wicceathen by some Heathens or Asastru. Why? Well it's because the modern Norse Pagans are more Wiccan than Heathen. They worship the Norse like they would worship Mother Night or the Horned God. Rather than using Mother Night or the Horned God they would use Odin or Freyja for example and would regard the spirits like the veattir or Hulder as little more than nature spirits that you can call upon for help.

There's nothing wrong with this but they should chose a different name for their following. When you think NP you think about what the Vikings did not what a branch from the Wiccans do.

There are a few groups of traditional Norse Pagan. The only reason they're still around is because the traditions and customs have been passed from generation to generation. They also had the good fortune to not have been assimilated.

The modern ones also use the Wiccan version of some holidays like Yule. A little example of Wiccan custom breeding into NP is the Yule tree. Wiccans usually center their beliefs around maternity and reproduction and regard the tree as a representation of the placenta which is false by Norse standards.

I do not hate modern NPs I'm just stating a fact that few want to regard.
