"Are you sure you won't regret this?" Steven asked.
Spinel teleported back to Earth on an interstellar warp pad and gone to the crystal gems' base. Steven woke up to Spinel poking his face. It was 3am, but Steven didn't care, he was trying to be as supportive as possible. A lot of pressure to put on a 16-year-old, let's be honest.
They sat on his bed and Spinel told him what happened. Now Spinel had asked him for advice.
"Regret? Ha! The only regrets I have was wasting a week with the Diamonds!" She answered.
"But entertaining people is your purpose... And what's better than serving up smiles?" Steven smiled and poked his cheeks.
Spinel grimaced. "Being dead or anything else."
"I never knew you felt so strongly about it."
"Where have you been?" Spinel put her chin in her hands.
"Well, I guess I can't stop you. But Spinel, it's a cold, cold world out there. No one's going to serve you happiness on a silver platter"
Garnet appears beside them with cookies. "Free sample?"
"Cookies!" Steven happily takes one.
"Can I have one-" Spinel asked, but Garnet was already gone.
"Anyways, I just want you to know, if you ever get in trouble, come find me. I'll take care of you. 'Cause you and me..." Steven grabs Spinel by the shoulder puffs and pulls her towards him. "...we're like sisters, only closer." He lifts up her shirt and listens for her heartbeat... he's met with silence. "Huh."
Spinel pushes his hand away awkwardly.
"Steven, I don't need your help. I am ready to unlock my potential. I could be anything I set my mind to." Spinel's eyes fill with wonderment. "I could be a football player, or a queen, or a spaceman."
"Or a football-playing queen in space... with a mustache!"
Spinel narrowed her eyes, "yeah... uh-huh. Ya know, that reminds me, there's been something I've been wanting to say to you since the day we met... Goodbye. Next time you see me, this town will be eating out of the palm of my hands!" She leaps off of her bed, runs for the door and kicks it open, breaking off the hinges. Steven watches as she runs off into the ocean and disappears into the waves.
