"That's cuz our friend ain't shit!" Keke hollered.
"Why you don't let that man be that baby daddy?" Dijah laughed.
"Because, he has a dad already! Don't be a dick, Dij." I rolled my eyes.
"Well if he tryna take on that role, why stop him?" She asked.
"Khadijah. My son has a dad. Tupac is my baby's father. I'll never take that away from him. You playing too much, girl, chill. The wound is still fresh." I spat.
"Trueeeee." Keke agreed.
"I'm just saying, he ain't here to support you."
"So ima use this man to support me? I ain't like that Dij, come on. You sounding like high school Khadijah." I turned my nose up.
Dijah thought for a while.
"My bad, Mo. You right. Devante's a good dude and so was Pac. Every nigga ain't Rodney. I keep forgetting. I'm sorry." She rubbed my back.
"You good, girl. I'm hungry." I spoke.
"What you craving-"
The doorbell rang interrupting Khadijah and we had no idea who it was.
"I'll get it." Keke stood up and walked over to it.
"What the fuck?" I heard her say under her breath.
"What is it?!" I got up and made my way to the front door.
Keke stood with her hands on her hips as she looked down at a bunch of exotic flowers and leaves in a vase that I've never seen before.
"Who got a secret admirer?" Khadijah's voice came from behind me.
"It says... Mo's name? Look it has a card." Keke bent over and picked up the card.
"And no one was here when you opened the door?" I asked, taking the card from her.
"Nope. No one. Not even a sign of someone leaving. It took me less than 10 seconds to get to the damn door!" She raised an eyebrow.
"The strange shit just don't stop. What does the card say, Mo?" Dijah exhaled.
I opened the card and analyzed the handwriting.
"Maybe I need some sleep..." I thought out loud.
"What? What does it say? Hand it here." Dijah took it out of my hands.
Her eyes danced around the words. She looked up at me and said nothing.
"Well?" Keke shot Khadijah a look.
"Aright, it says what's meant to be will always be, always." She read.
"Is this Devante?!" Keke spat.
"If it is... that's crazy. Give me that." I shook my head, snatching the card from Dijah.
"I'll be back." I spat.
"You going over to his house?" Keke asked.
"Yeah, because, what is he not getting?" I said with an attitude.
"We'll be here. Be careful." Dijah said.
I zoomed out of the house and stormed next door. As I fixed myself to knock on Devante's door, it opened, and there stood Sade in shock with Devante right behind her.
I quickly hid the card.
"Hey, Mo...?" Sade smiled.
"Monika? What you doing here?" He asked with a look of confusion.
"I- Uh... I was coming over to ask if you had some lemon. To help with my nausea." I lied.
It couldn't have been him.
"Uh... yeah? Hang on." He disappeared back into the house.
"I'm scared to have a baby, girl. I don't wanna deal with any of that." Sade threw her hands up.
"Yeah, well he wasn't really planned, but I'm glad he's here. Really. I see y'all two got in contact fast. Where y'all headed?" I smiled.
"We're going to a Korean restaurant! I've never tried their food. I'm hype." She beamed. I could tell.
"I hope y'all have fun! I heard it's delicious."
"Here you go, Mo. That's all you needed?" Devante eyed me as if he knew I was jiving.
"Yup! Thanks Tay, I'll catch you guys later!" I grinned as I turned to walk away.
"Bye, Mo!" Sade hollered.
I sped back into my house where Keke and Dijah stood waiting.
"Sooo?"
"It wasn't him. He just left with the girl I hooked him up with!" I threw my hands up.
"That was fast..." Keke furrowed her eyebrows.
"Hella..." Dijah added.
"So if it wasn't this nigga... who the hell sending me flowers?" I sat, dumbfounded.
"Beats me... all I know, is them ain't no regular flowers." Keke shrugged.
"Sholl ain't. These ain't city flowers. Who's in love with you and got the money to be importing shit?" Dijah hovered over the bouquet and hawked them.
I looked over at them and wondered the same thing.
Who?
