It All Started With A DM....

Chapter 11 💞

Mom walked to and fro in anger. She called me some minutes after I spoke with dad. She kept on shouting and shouting on phone while I just cried. She came home some minutes later.

Dad wasn't mad at me as much as I expected. He spoke softly to me and asked me if I was alright. He promised to be home in some hours.
When mom saw I was feeling sick, she made some food for me and sat down on my bed as she watched me then forced me to take more drugs. Some minutes later, I slept off.

I felt my body aching as I turned. I needed more room so I weakly stretched my legs and there was Moyin on my bed. I screamed.

I screamed like my life depended on it, she was frightened as she jumped out of bed. My door was forced open and I saw my dad rush in

"what happened?" he asked, mom tagged along, fear all over her face

"I don't know, she just screamed as she saw me" Moyin explained.

I cried weakly to my dad "I don't want to see her on my bed".

My dad was moved, he was on his night clothe, he gave me a fatherly smile as he sat on my bed to hold me close. He was way nicer than fierce mom.

My brothers were all in the room now.

"Look Benita, I am tired of this whole thing, you gotta start talking, you gotta tell me everything that happened yesterday and if you dare lie to me. It ain't gonna be nice, I promise you" mom warned.

Dad rolled his eyes in her direction "easy Tamera honey, take it easy" he cooed. Moyin was sweating where she stood, she was even shaking already.

Mom sat down on the sofa with her arms akimbo
"okay, I'll take it easy " she mumbled.

Dad rubbed my arms softly and asked me
" According to what I've gathered, you once dated your friend Jude and when you both broke up, he started dating your cousin here and he revealed to everybody that you're a lesbian which I believe is absolutely false... Right? ".

It felt weird and scary to admit that to my dad but I had to, I was scared and I couldn't lie. My dad knows when I lie.

Dad understood everything and after Dotun and Ben added some few words for me, he cleared his throat and gave me a thorough typical African father lecture about facing my studies and not boys. He spoke softly to me but I could feel the disappointment in his voice. He made me promise not to get involved in boys matter again till I'm old enough.... Iffa hear.

Moyin on her part was confronted big time. Dad called her dad (his brother) to inform him about it. He also promised to pay some money to some people to help bring down the videos with everything possible. That was dad's part... Now mom 's.

Mom was the type to get angry easily. I was so scared of her.

" I don't want to see you ever again with that Jude of a boy or else I'm gonna kill you and kill somebody' s child" mom yelled after dad left my room.

"And you Moyin, I swear to God, I don't care if you're my husband's niece, if you do as much as hurt my daughter emotionally ever again, I'm gonna tie you to the railway and watch you get smashed by a train. D' you hear me?" mom shouted.
Moyin was crying already so was Tife. Whenever Mom starts shouting, it's always scary.

She turned to leave my room but stopped as she faced me "Benita, I am very disappointed in you, I thought it was books before boys"

Immediately she left the room, Moyin dropped to her knees sobbing "look Kehinde, I'm so sorry. I knew you and Jude broke up but I didn't know you were still emotionally attached, I didn't even know he had plans to lie about the lesbianism stuff.. I really liked him ohh, but I'm not sure I'll continue with him again.. I'm sorry ".

I wanted to throw my bed lamp on her face but then high and mighty Moyin was on her knees begging me, she was my cousin after all. There was no point holding grudges against her.

I sighed " just get up. I forgive you, even though I don't want to " . She squealed as she jumped up in happiness.

I was honestly surprised that I could decide to let Moyin go just like that.... I mean, I've always thought of poisoning her.

" thanks sisto".

She rushed downstairs, God knows to do what.
Ben was smiling at me but Dotun had this dreadful look on and was anxiously typing on his phone.

Tife already left my room while Ben came to sit on my bed, "why don't you switch on your phone Fisayo called me this morning asking about you " he said.

I did as he said and I saw bunch of text messages from different friends and enemies.

'Benny, is it true?'

'your video has gone viral'

'Benita, you don blow finish '

' sas Jude finish your life '

' your cousin bad oh.. Good for you '

There were other annoying messages too.

"try going online na" Ben said as he rubbed my feet.

I switched on my data and my phone hanged due to lots of notifications from all my social accounts.

I started with Facebook.
The messages there were like hundreds and the fact I was tagged in different posts gave me lots of notifications. I decided to check my messages first. Timi Lamar was topping the chat ;

'Hey '
' Black Benny '
' your name is Benita right '
' that video.... Is it real? '

Stalker! I typed a' NO' and sent it to him.
I checked the other messages from other people, some were condemning, some were to confirm.
Ben saw the frown on my face then he smiled and said

"look at the good side, you're more popular than you were. You always wanted fame na". I laughed because it was so true.

Dotun was still not smiling.

Williams called me and made me feel better with his words. He made me understand Jude was a very childish person and I really shouldn't have anything to do with him.

Fisayo also called and as usual, he was a gentleman even on phone. He wanted to come over but I asked him not to.

Moyin came upstairs with a bowl of cereals and with Aisha tagging behind her, good, my room turned to an event centre!

"Hey girlfriend "she teased as she touched my cheeks.
"so you have not baff since, it's 9am already " she added as she shyly sat on my bed close to Ben. She smiled at Ben and waved at Dotun who nodded in her direction.

" Thanks for coming big head.Where's Debra and Olivia?" I asked as my strength seemed to come back on sighting my best friend.

"Olivia's mom wanted her to go and get some things so she asked Debra to go with her... They'll come here later I guess" she explained.

Moyin handed the bowl of milky cereals to me. She really wanted to make it up to me. I forced a smile in her direction. Just when I stirred its content Dotun spoke to the phone ;

"una don already gather...okay na, make una go "
