Emma pov
We ran from the car to my uncles house as it started pouring on the way.
As soon as we rang the doorbell my uncle opened the door. He pulled me into a hug as soon as he saw me. It has been ages since we've seen each other."Come in," he said.
We followed him to the living room and sat down on the couch.
"So yeah, this is Harvey," I said carefully.
"Welcome Harvey, I'm Peter. Are you her boyfriend?" he questioned.
"No, sir, we're just friends. For now," he said getting slightly red.
"What did you say?" I asked him as I didn't hear the last part.
"Nothing Ems," he smiled.
Okay weird.
"Is everything okay with you?" I asked my uncle as his sister, also known as my mom, passed away. The reason why we're there in the first place.
"I'm doing okay, is everything okay with you?" he fired the question back.
"It's hard, but Harvey does everything to get me through," I replied.
"I think you're a good guy," my uncle said to Harvey.
He smiled, looking proud. "I try my best."
An hour later
"We have to go," my uncle said.
I nodded and went completely silent. It's not really the most fun moment for a 17 year old to go to the funeral of your own mother, saying a final goodbye.
We stepped into the car, the rain still pouring. My uncle and his wife sat in the front, my cousin in the back with Harvey and me. During the whole ride I said no word. My head rested on Harvey's shoulder.
We drove up to a parking and I saw my mother's best friend. I felt my eyes getting watery as all the memories flooded back. Harvey rapped his arm around my shoulder and I felt his grip tighten as he saw me crying.
"I'm here," he wispered into my ear. That was the moment I lost it. Tears were streaming down my face. I burried my face in the croock of his neck and didn't care that his shirt was getting wet.
We stepped out of the car, the rain had stopped.
"Do you want to come with me or would you rather stay here for a little longer?" my uncle asked.
"Stay here," I said and looked at Harvey.
My uncle nodded and Harvey pulled me in for a hug. We stood there for a while. I just couldn't face all those people without breaking down.
"We can go inside," my uncle said carefully.
We followed him inside, Harvey's arm wrapped around my waist. We entered a big space inside and a saw a paper hung upnkn the wall.
In memorie of Virginia Smith.
That was enough for me tl let the next tears fall down. It's real. I lost my mother. I will never see her again. What did she do to me?
Harvey leaded me into another room and let me sit down. I saw close family coming in and ran to Jack when he came in. I haven't seen him since I heard the news
