Gotham City
Caroline's Apartment

I finished the last of my chem homework and turned off the light beside my desk. I sat on the couch and turned on the tv, pressing the DVR button and selected the pre-recorded movie Halloween-- the classic with Michael Myers.
I felt a chill as the movie started, as I pulled up my blanket my eyes traveled outside the big glass windows of my apartment. Rain trickles down, illuminating the city lights.
I wondered if the rain would dry up by tomorrow night, though not many trick or treaters should roam the streets tomorrow.
Not during times like this.
I focused back on the tv, the terrible movie quality and acting hardly made me believe Michael's sister had been stabbed to death.
My breath caught when I heard something-- I paused the tv and reached for the light switch...
"Boo." I felt icy breath down my neck. I managed a slight yelp and tugged on the light switch, turning and immediately an inch away from a pointed chin and a 5 o'clock shadow crawling across the bottom half of his attractive face.
"Why so jumpy girl?" His lips parted into a smile.
"Why are you here?" I stood, straightening my pajamas and crossing my arms.
"I still have a key." He laughed slightly, walking towards me.
"No." I backed up, holding out my hand, palm up. "Give it to me."
"We're not over yet girly."
I managed a laugh of pity. "We were never together."
"Shall I bring up the texts let's see--" He pulled his phone out of his back pocket.
"Stop." I cringed. "What do you want."
"Nothing. Just bored."
"Bored? What if I wasnt-- never mind. Keep my key. Just leave me alone please."
"Fine girl." He said, opening my door to leave.
"Zayn." I said. "Please stop calling me that."
"Jeez, when I came over here I didn't think I'd get this much begging out of you." He raised an eyebrow, closing the door with the satisfaction of winning.
"We'll see who wins in the end." I said to no one.
