Luigi was crying into the palms of his hands.

All he heard was the fallout of the situation around him as everyone else that was still alive arguing and screaming at each other over who was killing the rest of them. He couldn't stand it. All of his best friends were spiralling into insanity. All of this shouting was too much to handle. He had to shut them up. He had to shut them out. He had to silence the noise before he ended up like the rest of them. Waluigi was untied after Birdo's death, but nothing was ruled out just yet.

"And how do we know that you aren't working with anyone?" Mario barked at Waluigi. "Wario is the only one who was campaigning your innocence! You two could be working together to kill the rest of us!"

"Yeah!" Bowser roared. "You guys could be pulling a scream on us!"

"Come ON!" Waluigi fired back. "Why don't we address the fact that people only die when you're in the immediate vicinity?! For all we know you could be slaughtering us and acting as leader to gain our trust!"

Luigi couldn't stop the tears anymore. He was fed up.

"CAN ALL OF YOU SHUT UP!?" he screamed at the top of his voice, sounding shaky due to his crying. "I get it. Everyone is worried, no one wants to die. But each and every one of you is giving the others reasons to target you next with all this bickering! Today is my goddamned birthday! And Mario's too! But it's been ruined by all this death and bitterness and hatred towards each other. We wanted today to be fun; and don't get me wrong it was great before all this shit happened, thanks Yoshi, but it's been destroyed. All because someone decided to kill everyone else."

Everyone stared at the lanky plumber in shock. For the last hour he'd been quietly crying and rocking himself back and forth whilst curled up in a ball. No one expected him to explode like that.

"Thanks, Weeg," Toad finally spoke up. "I think we all needed that. All this arguing and baseless accusations is getting us nowhere."

"Yeah," Yoshi rose in agreement. "We need to work together if we want to leave this place alive at the end of all this. I suggest we split into 2 groups."

Mario was next to add to the idea. "Great idea, I'll lead one team and Luigi will lead the other. I'll take Toad, Bowser, Waluigi and Rosalina; Luigi, you take Yoshi, Peach and Wario. My group will search the basement for clues, you should check upstairs. Let's go guys."

Everyone bid each other goodbye and headed to their area of the house to search. the Mario brothers, however, stayed behind for a few seconds as they embraced for what they both knew could have been for a final time.

"Stay safe bro," Luigi whispered to Mario as they released each other to lead their groups.

"You too," Mario replied, heading down the basement stairs.
