Meanwhile....

"This," Luigi matter-of-factly said. "Is bad. Really bad."

He looked around him at the rest of his group. Yoshi was holding his head in his hands with disappointment while Wario was bouncing a tennis ball off the wall in a melancholy fashion. It was a truly depressing sight. That's when it hit Luigi.

This was probably his last night alive.

He took this quiet time to assess his life. Was he proud of what he achieved? Did he do all he wanted to? He sighed as he realised that the answer to both of those questions was no. He was a disappointment in every way when compared to his brother. Maybe he was fated to have lived his whole life in Mario's shadow.

"It's over..." Luigi sighed.

"Huh?" Yoshi replied, Luigi's statement confusing him.

"It's over," he affirmed, he wasn't in the mood to hear hopeful reassurances. "We're doneso. Fucked. Boned."

"Please," Wario said, feeling uneasy from his cousin's sudden pessimism. "Not now. We just lost the princess."

"That's my point," Luigi muttered. "If we've failed at what Mario does for breakfast every other week then there's fat chance we're gonna survive. Just admit it guys, you know we're screwed too." The last part of his monologue sounded bitter, like he felt personally defeated.

Yoshi tried to reason with his friend. "Luigi, you never know," he said, challenging the plumber's hopeless attitude. "We can still survive... it's not over yet-"

"Are you kidding?!" the green clad Italian snapped. "We've failed, no... I've failed, at every that Mario is so fucking good at! We didn't even notice Peach was gone, we haven't found any evidence, and MY stupid idea is the one that's brought us to our FUCKING KNEES! We've lost, it's game over, all because of me."

Luigi has spiralled into a mental breakdown. The years of living in his brother's shadow, Mario getting all the credit, had finally triggered something to snap in the younger twin. His silent suffering paired with the precarious situation that he was in had finally made his last stand strand of childlike innocence wither away. He felt strangely confident after his outburst. He'd accepted his impending death, so he decided to go out challenging the killer. If this was how he was gonna go, at least he'd be helping his friends survive.

"LUIGI!" Yoshi screamed, an unusual venom slithering its way into his words. "You'd better fucking listen to me! We don't need this shit right now! Do you think ANY of us are happy with this!" Yoshi looked into his best friend's eyes, that were red with a mix of fear, rage and determination. That's when he realised where Luigi was going next. "Oh shit..."

"COME HERE YOU SICK FUCK!" he howled, trying to taunt the killer. "YOU WANNA KILL SOMEONE, HERE I AM! COME GET ME ASSHOLE!"

"Shut the fuck up Luigi!" Wario growled. "You'll get us all killed!" His patience was wearing thin.

He was sick of all the trauma that had occurred. He had witnessed 4 deaths, the mistreatment of his brother and a massive argument between his cousin and one of his friends. He decided he wanted some alone time to process everything that had happened.

"I er..." he stammered. "I need the bathroom."

He walked to the room opposite the study and locked the door. He was gonna need time alone to gather his thoughts. But as he sat on the closed toilet seat, an anvil suddenly dropped from above, crushing him and crashing into the ground floor below. The sound had alarmed Luigi and Yoshi, who ran to the bathroom and forced the door open by ramming into it with all their combined strength. As they bursted through the door, they saw what had happened.

"No..." Luigi choked, a tear in his eye. "Not Wario..."

Yoshi tilted his head down and closed his eyes in respect. Then he turned to his best friend. "We need to get to the rendezvous point," he said. "Now."

At that, the two immediately ran toward the stairs, only to clash with the banister and each other, causing them to lose their balance. Then, they slipped and fell down.

And officially there are more dead than alive! This has been a real slaughtering so far, I wonder what will next...? Oh wait, I'm the sicko that wrote this hellscape! I know exactly what's gonna happen...
