Chapter 10

“Kim!” Tee shouted as soon as he recognized Kimmon’s back.

Knowing whose voice was calling him, Kimmon stopped in his tracks and hesitated to look back.

“Hey, why weren’t you at the diner?” Tee asked as he caught up with Kimmon.

“I was at the arcade with Copter and Bas…” Kimmon replied nervously, afraid that Tee might scold him for not showing up at the diner.

“That’s unusual...”

Silence took over as the two continued to walk. And just like any other day, Kimmon’s brain cells were debating whether to tell Tee how he feels or not. And as of the moment, the opposition’s side is in the lead.

“Anyways!” Tee suddenly shouted with his cheekbones lifted high. “Guess what happened today!”

“What?”

Tee drew in a long breath then sang “I caught Tae staring at me…”

Kimmon chuckled at how happy Tee was for just a simple reason.

“And you know what, I don’t know if it’s just me, but Tae has been acting so sweet around me lately! He has been helping me carry heavy stuff, opening the door for me, and he even wiped my forehead with his handkerchief this morning! I feel like…” Tee giggled and noticeably blushed. “he likes m—”

“Tee.”

Tee stopped at the mention of his name.

“Hm?”

Kimmon stared at Tee intensely, as if he was memorizing every detail of his face while Tee touched his face, checking if there was something on it. And when he was sure that there wasn’t, he looked to his side to check if Kimmon was staring at him or someone else. But of course, there was no one around them. Tee’s eyebrows drew together as he wondered why Kimmon was staring at him for almost a minute already.

Kimmon smiled. Tee didn’t know why and everything was getting weird and awkward. But Tee still smiled back at his friend.

“I like you.”

Tee stiffened and forced himself to believe that he heard it wrong.

“I like you Tee…”

Tee raked his fingers through his hair and stepped back. “Kim I… I don’t know what to say… are you playing a joke on me right now?”

Of course, Tee was having a hard time believing this. Kimmon expected that reaction from his friend. After all, everything was so sudden. Kimmon was even shocked at himself. It was as if those words have been wanting so badly to break free from his mouth.

Kimmon walked closer to Tee and narrowed his eyes at him. “I’m not joking. And you don’t have to say anything. I’m not expecting for an answer. I just wanted to say it.”

Tee was dumbstruck and his brain was having a very hard time understanding the situation he’s currently in.

Before things could get any more awkward, Kimmon broke the silence and let out a huge breath of relief as he placed a hand on his chest. “Gosh I feel like my heart’s gonna explode. Hey, you’re not going to avoid me after this, are you? Coz that would make you a really bad friend.”

“Kimmon I… I’m sorry I didn’t know how you felt…”

Kimmon chuckled at the sight of his flustered friend. “It’s not your fault. Wait a minute… actually, it’s partially your fault.”

Tee bit his lips and wrinkles started to form on his forehead.

“To make it up to me, how about a hug?”

Kimmon spread his arms and smiled at his friend weakly. And slowly, Tee walked closer until the both of them embraced each other.

Kimmon didn’t want to let go as he had never hugged Tee for this long. He wished time would stop and they’d stay like that forever.

“Kim…” Tee whispered.

“Yeah?”

“You know you’re getting friendzoned right?”

Kimmon pulled away and glared at Tee with annoyance. “Did you really have to hurt me like that?”

“I was just making sure that you weren’t getting your hopes up…” Tee replied as he scratched his head.

“Tsk. Why are you walking alone anyway? Do you have any idea what time it is already? Why didn’t Tae walk you home? What if something happens to you?”

A smile began spreading across Tee’s face as Kimmon switched to parenting mode real quick.

“Kim… you know I love you, right? You’re the bestest friend anyone could ask for and I’m so lucky to have you.”

“I know.” Kimmon replied as he smiled back at his friend. “Now stop hurting me you jerk and let’s get you home.”

Examinations were finally over and Copter barely survived it all. And so he wanted to relieve all the stress in him and decided to visit his happy pill.

But unfortunately, Tee was not at the diner. And so was his brother. And so was Kimmon.

“Do you want to wait inside sir? They’d be probably back in a few minutes.” One of the staffs, who had no idea where the three went at all, said to Copter.

“It’s fine. I’ll just come back later.”

Copter badly wanted to see Tee today for it has been almost a week since he had last seen Tee and he could really use some motivation right now especially that the exams drained all the energy in him.

Copter continued to walk as he pondered where on this earth is he supposed to kill time. He walked and walked until his feet led him to where his crush was.

Copter couldn’t help but smile. Tee was there. A few meters away from him. It was as if the heavens were helping him.

But Tee wasn't alone. Tee was talking with someone and although he couldn’t see the face, Copter knew who it was.

Copter wondered what his brother was doing there. He wondered what they were talking about. He wondered why Tee was smiling so radiantly at Tae. He wondered why Tee was looking at Tae so lovingly.

And slowly, Tae’s face moved closer to Tee’s.

Copter wanted to run but his feet were frozen.

Tae and Tee’s face drew nearer and nearer to each other until—

“Copter…”

Kimmon’s face came into view and Copter saw his reflection on Kim’s eyes.

Broken.

His reflection became blurrier by the second until he felt something wet roll down his cheeks.

Kimmon felt as if he got his heart broken for the second time. Copter's tears squeezed Kimmon's heart. It pained him to see Copter like that.

Kimmon pulled Copter to his chest and patted his head.

“It's okay little guy, I'm right here.”
