Look Beside You (Completed)

Chapter 5

Copter shrugged as he got taken aback from what Kimmon said. Help him with what? Making him the source of Tee's happiness?

"But I thought you like Tee?" Copter asked, and for the first time, he saw Kimmon blush.

Kimmon's cheeks turned from pale to a shade of pink as he walked closer to Copter and whispered loudly "No I don't! Did you hear me wrong when I said Tee likes me? Tee likes me okay? Not the other way around!"

Copter didn't know how to react at all. Should he laugh at Kimmon for getting all flustered or should he punch Kimmon for getting too close to him?

Still having no idea what was the right thing to do, Copter slowly took a step backward and said "Okay okay... calm down."

Kimmon breathed in as soon as he realized that he reacted too much at Copter's question.

"You already know that Tee likes you... so why would you help me?" Copter asked as he crossed his arms and thrusted his hips out.

Kimmon scratched the back of his head and replied "I uhh... lied to you..."

"What?"

"I lied to you a few days ago and I lied to you just now.... Tee doesn't really like me." Kimmon replied and gave Copter a coy smile.

Copter on the other hand stood still, his gaze not leaving Kimmon's. Right now, Copter was torn between two things. He was torn between jumping in happiness because Tee doesn't actually like this almost perfect dude and punching Kimmon in the face because he was Copter's cause of stress for the past few days.

"What?" Copter asked again.

"I'm sorry little guy, let's talk about this later. The diner's going to open in two hours and I still have to go to the market." Kimmon said as he hurriedly walked towards the gate. "And tell your brother to go to work today or else I'll start thinking that he's an irresponsible person."

It was already three in the afternoon and everyone on the Dreamboats' Diner were currently taking a break. They had two hours of rest until the diner would open again and unlike their usual breaks where everyone chitchatted with loud voices, the diner was quiet.

It was one of the unspoken rules in the diner. If one of the owners was in a bad mood, everyone must stay quiet. Well, except if there are customers.

Two phones rang at the same time and it broke the silence at the diner.

"May?" Tae uttered as he answered his call.

Meanwhile, Kimmon answered his phone as well and asked his caller "How'd you get my number?".

After almost a minute, the two stood up from their seats and went out.

Tae was obviously headed to his girlfriend and Kimmon hoped that this time, May isn't playing with Tae anymore.

Kimmon didn't want both of his friends getting hurt. The sight of Tee crying last night was already too much to bear for him.

"Why do you walk so slow?" Copter said as he caught sight of Kimmon walking towards him lifelessly.

Copter was waiting at a café just a few blocks away from the diner for almost an hour already. He was too impatient to know what Kimmon's intentions were that he couldn't stay still at his house.

"Okay, now that I'm here, throw me your questions." Kimmon said as he sat down and Copter didn't hesitate to ask right away.

"I really have this strong feeling that you like Tee and I just can't seem to understand why you keep on denying it. Tell me the truth mister liar!" Copter exclaimed which caught the attention of some customers in the café.

Kimmon chuckled for the first time this day. And for the first time as well, someone noticed his feelings for Tee.

"Fine, I like Tee." Kimmon surrendered and threw his hands in the air. "You got me, little guy."

Copter smiled at his cleverness. "I knew it."

"But I don't deserve him." Kimmon said, smiling weakly at Copter. "I failed to be there when he needed me the most."

Even though a year had already passed, Kimmon still felt guilty towards Tee.

Last year, Kimmon and Tee had a fight that lasted for almost a month. It was then when Kimmon started to feel different towards Tee. He felt that Tee became someone more than a friend to him.

Kimmon was so confused with his own feelings that he distanced himself from Tee. Tee kept on asking him what was wrong until Kimmon blew up and told Tee that he didn't want to be friends anymore.

He was shocked himself that he had said those words to Tee.

A week later, Tee called Kimmon but he didn't answer. That night, Kimmon was drinking with his friends at a bar. He wanted to temporarily forget everything. He wanted to forget that he was a loser who couldn't sort out his feelings towards his best friend.

But then the next day, Kimmon found out that Tee was at the hospital. That last night he had a severe asthma attack. Tee called him because he needed him but Kimmon chose to ignore him.

Tee almost lost his life and his friend was nowhere to be found.

Luckily, Tae was there. It was already dark and the streets were almost empty.

But on a lamppost near his house, he saw Tee. Kneeling on the ground with a hand on his chest and the other pressing on his phone, he was having a very hard time breathing. Tee forgot to bring his inhaler and Tae had no idea how to deal with someone having an asthma attack, so he immediately drove Tee to the nearest hospital.

That was when Tee started to like Tae.

Kimmon couldn't forgive himself. He was so stuck in his own problem that he almost put his friend in danger.

But Copter didn't need to hear this story. If Kimmon told this story to Copter, he'd either pity him or scold him. Kimmon didn't need someone to comfort him nor someone to tell him off. What he needed right now was someone who could make Tee smile.

And when Copter said that he'll be the one to make Tee smile, Kimmon thought that he should give the little guy a chance.

Kimmon pinched Copter's cheeks that made him shriek in pain. Copter was obviously curious as to what Kimmon had meant and the story behind that but Kimmon tried to brush it off.

"Okay, enough of me. Let's talk about you and how you can win over your crush."
