SEPTEMBER SOON PASSED, allowing October to come for a visit. The leaves on the trees around Hogwarts had started to change from green, to their autumn red and orange. Rory had always enjoyed October, finding Halloween to be quite fun, especially the older she got. After she sent out her letter to Carina and Sol, Rory waited for the day when she received a howler, but it still hadn't come. However, she had received a letter from Professor Umbridge requesting her presence in her office.

Her office terrified Rory to a whole other level as it looked like the color pink had thrown up everywhere. Not to mention, she had portraits of at least two dozen cats and one of Cornelius Fudge sitting on her desk

Not creepy at all.

Once she entered, Rory sat down across from Professor Umbridge's desk and the woman looked up with a fake smile, "Miss Kennedy, it's so nice to see you here, dear. Would you like tea or coffee?"

"Neither, Professor. I'm fine —"

"But I insist," Professor Umbridge persisted, and Rory gave in, smiling as she nodded, "Tea will be fine, I guess. Do you have lemon?"

"I do, dear!" Professor Umbridge poured out the dark liquid into a small, porcelain teacup, placing in a lemon wedge before handing it to Rory. She smiled gratefully and pretended to take a sip of it, "That's some great tea, Professor."

After being around boys for a while, specifically boys with Ministry parents, she had gained an instinct of knowing when someone slipped something into her beverage. It was a trial and error process in the beginning, but now Rory knew never to drink anything Professor Umbridge offered her. The professor had probably dropped a few dashes of Veritaserum, wanting to ask Rory a few personal questions she would never get the answers to otherwise.

Not this time, Dolores.

"Now," Professor Umbridge began, and Rory set down the floral teacup. "I know Professor Dumbledore said you were ill, so he excused you from the rest of your detentions."

"Did you want me to finish them, Professor?" Rory asked, but the lady shook her head, "No, no, I don't think that's necessary. Besides, I think you've learned your lesson, right? You've been very corporative in class lately, and your work has been perfect."

"I realized that I need to be a follower, not a leader," Rory said, and Professor Umbridge smiled. "I understand the mistake of my actions and I hope you accept my apology."

Professor Umbridge nodded, "And I do, dear. Now, if only Mr. Potter would take note of your example."

"He's quite hard-headed, that boy."
