Alex's P.O.V

I waited for her to show up.

Of course she won't, she probably thinks your weird.

I thought to myself. I sighed and kept folding napkins and arranging the silverware into them. I sighed and looked out of the big window in the restaurant again.

Nothing.

It was then when I saw a flash of red. I instantly smiled at the sight of that spunky red head. She parked her bike and locked it and trotted in the restaurant, pushing back her long red hair out of her face.

"Hey, I'm here," she greeted
breathlessly.

"Hey," I mocked her.
She rolled her eyes and sat down.

"I'm resisting the urge to throw a fork in your eye," she smirked at me, folding a napkin and putting silverware into it.

"No no you're doing it wrong," I corrected, reaching over to help her. Our hands touched a bit and I laughed, but she looked away in embarrassment.

What was that about?

I quickly finished that set and moved on to the next one, sitting in an awkward silence.

"So... What are all these silverware sets for anyways?" She asked after awhile, glancing up at me.

"Well, they're having this big cookout thing on Friday, so they're setting up a bit early," I explained, pointing to a group of hurrying waiters.
She nodded, passing another set down into the finished basket.

**********
After my shift, Fiona got a call from her mom wanting her home.

So there I was, sitting on the side of the lake alone like a loser I am.
It was a wonder why Fiona didn't think so.
Normally I would get rejected by girls...

I mean... I had asked so many out before...
They all rejected me, laughed at me, slammed the door in my face, ran away from me, or just stared at me like I was some space alien.

But Fiona was different... She became friends with me. And that was so great. I hadn't had one friend over this summer because of my awful golf cart parking skills, and having a friend at work made things a lot easier.

I looked into the rippling lake and I frowned slightly.

Oh how I wish we were more than friends.

I mean, she was so funny, yet mysterious all the same.
Her red hair makes her so unique.
She gets too loud sometimes, but every time she gets loud, it just makes me all pumped up. She's just got that effect on people...
Well people meaning me.

But I mean... I could never tell her that though. I thought she was cute the moment she smashed into me.

If I told her that though, she would never talk to me again.
I couldn't ruin our friendship...
She was too good of a friend.

I sighed again.

I wanted to be more than that so badly though...

If only she felt the same.
