Fiona's P.O.V.
"FIONA?!?!" Someone shouted.
Crap.... I knew that voice...
I fell out of a shocked Alex's arms and I splashed into the water, wanting to swim away, but I knew if I did, it would be pretty useless, considering she was my kind as well.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" My mom screamed in fury, her eyes darting between me and Alex.
"Mom mom it's okay! He knows I told him it's fine," I tried to reassure her.
"FINE?! SPILLING OUR SECRET IS FINE?!" She demanded even louder.
"Ms. Collins... If I may interrupt, I won't tell anyone, you have my word," Alex interjected.
"STAY OUT OF THIS!" My mom screamed at him. Yes, she did like him, but I guess not when she found out that he knew of the... Secret.
"Mom, please just-" I was interrupted.
"Fiona! You said you would never show ANYONE-" she started to yell.
"It just happened! It's fine!" I shouted back, my argument wasn't strong.
My mom looked pissed, but she was calming down a bit.
"Fiona.... Were going home," she looked at me sternly.
"No!" I protested.
"NOW, Fiona," she glared at me fiercely.
I bowed my head in defeat and I paddled to the side of the lake.
Alex climbed out too and tried to say something, but as soon as my legs appeared again, my mom grabbed my wrist and we were off stomping through the shortcut to my house.
"Mom why did you have-" I snapped, but she stopped me.
"Because Fiona! Were leaving in a week and a half! You haven't even told him yet?! You need to stop seeing him, because we have a lot to do before we join the pod," she explained.
I stood there, dumbfounded.
How could I ever have forgotten??
"I.... But..." I stuttered out.
Mom hugged me.
"It'll be hard, darling, but it has to happen...." She said sympathetically.
I pulled away from the hug and I trudged up to my porch, wiping my bare feet on the welcome mat. I padded through the kitchen and sat on the back patio, gazing at the lake.
Why.
Why couldn't I just be normal?
Why when I have someone I think I'm in love with, I have to leave them?
I... I'm going to break his heart.....
I hate and love having a tail.
Ugh. Why is everything so flipping complicated...
I sat there on the patio and my phone buzzed.

I set my phone down and buried my head in my hands.
