Rose stands in an empty warehouse in Chicago. She leans against the elevator shaft. She was too late to stop the brothers. They walked into the trap set up by the demon. She expected this but got here as fast as possible.
She hears them, the brothers and Meg, the demon. 'This, the whole thing, was a trap. Running into you at the bar, following you, hearing what you had to say. It was all a set-up, wasn't it?' Sam says. Meg giggles, and Sam continues: 'And that the victims were from Lawrence?'
'It doesn't mean anything. It was just to draw you in, that's all.' She replies.
'You killed those two for nothing.' Sam says.
'Baby, I've killed a lot more for a lot less.' Meg answers. Rose hears the demon walking above her. She listens carefully to keep track of her movements.
'You trapped us. Good for you. But why don't you kill us already?' Dean says. She holds her breath, that voice. It sounds too familiar. She moves towards the opening of the lift shaft.
Meg answers: 'Not very quick on the uptake, are we? This trap isn't for you.'
Sam speaks next: 'Dad. It's a trap for Dad.'
'Oh, sweetheart—you're dumber than you look. Cause even if Dad was in town, which he is not, he wouldn't walk into something like this. He's too good.' Dean says.
Rose appears out of the elevator shaft and looks at Meg, the demon. 'He's right.' It's a statement. She glances at where the brothers are tied up. Dean looks confused at his brother; Sam raises an eyebrow. And she knows why he sounded familiar. It's not possible. 'You played it smart, though.' Rose says, focusing on Meg: 'Take his sons, and you have the father.'
Meg smiles to try and keep her confidence up: 'They're his weak spot.'
'Yes.' Rose admits. She wants to turn around and clenches her fists. It's not him; It's someone else. 'But like I said, Dean was right. He wouldn't walk into this trap. Why come here? If he can send me?' She smiles. It takes Meg by surprise.
Meg blinks when she realises: 'Why would you help them. They're hunters.'
'Oh, I'm aware.' Rose says while speeding forwards, and she pushes the demon onto the altar. 'I'm going to end this here.'
Meg looks scared and starts scanning the room, but it's too late. Shadows move against the wall. They take Meg, drag her over the floor and throw her out of the building.
Rose has her back turned to the brothers, but she does hear what happens. They first cut the ropes and try to sneak up behind her: 'I wouldn't do that if I were you.' Rose says and spins around, taking Dean's knife in the process. When she sees him, she stops moving.
'Who are you?' Sam asks her, and she blinks and looks away.
'And how do you know our father?' Dean asks.
'Sam, put the knife away.' She holds Dean's knife out towards him: 'Take it.' She tells him: 'I'm Rose. He called me and asked for help.' She can see the doubt on their faces: 'If you don't believe me, you should ask him yourself.'
'He is here?' Sams asks.
Rose nods. He said he'd be here. She sends out a text to him to let him know that his sons are fine. He immediately replies and shows it to Sam and Dean: 'He is at this address.'
'He is in our motel room?' Dean asks.'
Rose opens the door. John turns around slowly, smiling.
'Dad?' Dean says, almost in disbelief.
'You're really here.' Sam says.
Dean hugs his father: 'Dad. It was a trap. I'm really sorry.'
'It's alright. I thought it might have been. That's why I contacted Rose.'
Rose stands next to the door. She feels awkward; this is a family moment. She doesn't belong here.
Dean turns around, and Sam looks at her: 'I think I might go.' She tells them and looks at John: 'You let me know if you need any more help involving yellow eyes or another hunt.'
He nods.
'I know you won't.' She says. She goes outside. 'A vampire?' She hears Dean asks his dad.
'She is a good one. She saved my life more than a few times.' John tells his sons.
It's good that they're together again.
She stays still for a moment, and it's good she does because she hears an attack. They're being thrown against the walls. It's the Daeva. She speeds back in: 'Close your eyes!' Rose takes a flare: 'These things are shadow demons, so let's light them up!' The room fills with smoke and a brilliant white light. The shadow demon vanishes.
They all reach the door and run outside as quickly as possible.
Outside, John thanks Rose for coming back and saving them.
'All right, come on. We don't have much time. As soon as the flare's out, they'll be back.' Sam sounds panicked, which they all are. Rose is just better at hiding it. She ignores it and answers John: 'She must be alive, maybe it's smarter if....' She doesn't say it, but she knows he understands it. That they'll be safer if they don't stay together for now.
'She is right.' Dean says.
'Dean, we should stick together. We'll go after those demons—'
'Sam! Listen to me! We almost got Dad killed in there. Don't you understand? They're not going to stop. They're going to try again. They're going to use us to get to him. I mean, she is right. Dad's vulnerable when he's with us. He—he's stronger without us around.'
'Sammy, this fight is just starting. And we are all going to have a part to play.' His father tells him.
