Somewhere in San Francisco, in a motel room. Dean sits at the table, cleaning his guns: 'This lawyer guy the first heart-free corpse in town?'
'First man. Over the past year, several women have gone missing. Dead bodies washed up later in the bay, too deteriorated to draw firm conclusions.' Sam answers.
'But no harts?'
'No hearts. They were all hookers working at Hunter's Point. Now, cops are trying to keep things under wrap, but they're looking for a serial killer.' Sam types something on his laptop.
'And the lunar cycle?'
'Mm-hmm. Yeah, month after month, all the murders happen in the week leading up to the full moon.'
Dean looks up: 'Which is this week?'
'Hence the lawyer.'
'Awesome.'
'Dean, could you be a bigger geek about this?'
'I'm sorry, man, but what about "a human by day, a freak animal killing machine by moonlight", don't you understand? I mean, werewolves are badass. We haven't seen one since we were kids.'
Sam puts his laptop away: 'Maybe it's a good thing Rose went to Mystic Falls.'
'Oh, because of what they say?' Dean says: 'One bite... Do you think it's true?'
'It's very possible to be true.'
'So, what's our next move?' Dean asks.
'Maybe you should go to Mystic Falls.' Sam says: 'Rose is....'
'No, she said she wanted to go alone.' He says: 'And I'm not letting you do this hunt alone. You need backup.' If they finish this quickly, they could go.
'Then talk to the girl who found the body.' Sam decides.

Rose chuckles and looks at her friend Alice.
'Shh.' They're at Alice's house, outside: 'They can't know I'm only coming home now.' She looks serious.
Rose tries to do the same and fails, laughing again: 'Come on.' She says, and Alice giggles. 'Ok, I'm going.'
'You're going to be ok?' Alice asks nervously.
'I told you. I'm not afraid of the dark.'
Rose walks carefully through the dark; she passes the halfway point when she sees someone. Maybe Alice is right. Her heartbeat rises, and she tries to breathe steadily. There are two of them. 'It's you, Miss Rosalie.' It's Mr Salvatore and Damon: 'You shouldn't be out this late. Not by yourself; you never know what's out in the dark.'
'You're the first and only people I've seen. You and your son.'
'That's good to hear.' He says: 'Damon, can you ensure she gets home?' It's not a question. He is demanding it.
Damon nods: 'Sure, father.' He offers Rose his arm, and they walk away from his father: 'Why are you away at this hour? You weren't....'
'No. I wasn't.' Rose says and giggles: 'Alice wanted to tell me a rumour, and it couldn't wait any longer. I told you how she gets when she doesn't get to gossip.'
Present—
It turned out that it wasn't the dark itself that she needed to be afraid of, but what could be in it.
She walked away from the town square and was now at the wood's edge. She freezes; she hears a muffled scream. Slowly she turns around, hiding behind a tree. The scream stops.
'Finally, couldn't you have hit her before?' A woman asks someone: 'She wouldn't stop.'
'I tried, ok.' A guy answers, a brown-haired girl hanging over his shoulder. The woman opens the door of a car. Rose sees the girl better now. She holds her breath. It's not possible.
