chapter 13

I wake up with a sense of trouble since yesterday. I didn’t do anything. I didn’t do anything bad with josh so why do I feel guilty? Calvin actually cares but so does josh…

NO… think of calvin. I like him. Ill date him. No josh. Forget him

(yeah right.)

but I quietly go to bells room and open the door. Its empty. I squint my eyes. Her parents are at another conference. She should be home. Realization dawns on me.

“geesh.” I mutter. She moves fast. So I end up going down and making myself a cup of coffee. That might wake me up enough to get through her arrival. By the time I am pouring the coffee she is opening the door and trying to sneak through. When she is halfway through I laugh.

“good morning sweetheart. How was the guys place.”

She groans slightly and stands up strait beaming. “great. Thanks for asking.”

I raise my coffee in a offer and she smiles and comes to sit with me.

“you know me too well.” As she tries taking it I pull it away.

“tell me first what happened then ill tell you.”

she groans and holds her hand out. “Im like you. I cant function without coffee. Give it and then ill tell you.”

I mock sigh and hand her it. She gladly takes it and takes a couple sips.

“well…”

“you cant get out of it. So don’t try.” I warn her waving my fingers.

“we kissed and went to his house and you can figure that out on your own.”

She smiles at my reaction. Just some eyebrows raised and  a weird plastered on my face.

“oh uh… wow.”

She rolls her eyes. “don’t look so surprised. I aint the only one to be making out in a car either. Spill.”

“its nothing.”

“oh come on. give details!”

“when I said it was nothing, I really ment nothing. He just kissed me and I kissed him back. Nothing else happened.”

“oh.” She says and sits back into her seat and I do the same sighing.

“I saw josh then after.” I caught her attention.

“what?! What did he say? What did he do? oh god did you kiss him too?”

I laugh at her and she narrows her eyes. “I saw him in his house. He looked sick. I guess that’s why he wasn’t at the dance.”

She sits back and thinks for a minute. “oh. Dang it. No more drama. Well there was enough in the first place but its always fun to have more.”

I roll my eyes at her. “no it wont. I don’t need anymore.”

I look at her and realization dawns on me. "you still have to tell me girl. Stop distracting me" I yell at her. she shrinks in her seat blushing beat red.

"its nothing." she mumbles.

"yes it is so now tell me."

"nothing really happened."

"but your still happy. like your glowing. I mean there wasnt much guys that made you feel like it but he's special. I know he is."

she looks up from her dress she was examinging. "you really think so?"

I smile at her and lean over and take her hand. "yes. you have my friend approval."

she dramatically rolls her eyes. "yes because that was what I was so worried about. your approval."

I laugh and lean back. "just be careful. dont want to end up heartbroken. alright?"

She sighs. “yea your right.” We look around a moment before I realize what shes still wearing.

“uhh… since your little spree, your still wearing your dress. Do you want me to wait?”

“god yes. Let me shower and get into comfortable then we can watch a movie. Alright?”

I nod. “sounds great.”

As soon as she leaves to her room and the bathroom, there’s a knock. I open it confused and see a box. A long box. I look down and pick it up and  and its to me. I open it up quickly and its some light blushed pink roses with a note. I smile at it and open the note.

Dear crystal,

     Thanks for dancing with me. want to come out on a date this Tuesday?

I smile at the note until bell comes out with sweatpants on.

“whats that?”

“cal got me this. isn’t it cute?”

“oh my gosh! The roses are so pretty! I love them.” she exclaims and then turns a pink sheepish color.

“Sorry.”

I laugh at her. “It’s ok. What movie shall it be?”

“Well I like the vow? How about that?”

“But I want 21 jump street.”

I sigh. “Alright.”

So we end up watching 21 Jump Street and then later the vow.

By myself.

She left for her guy, uhh… Ryan? I think she told me his name as she was putting on makeup and I was teasing her from her bed.

So now I am watching it and seeing the irony of this movie and my life. How funny is that? So by the end I am crying and I go to bed alone. Always alone.

“Daddy harder!” I giggle from the swing sets. He laughs and pushes me higher.

“How high?”

“All the way to heaven! All the way!”

“Ok. Never let go then.”

“I won’t. Higher!” I laugh and he and mom start laughing along with me.
