Slowly opening my eyes, I saw that my vision was a little blurry. Blinking a couple of times, everything was clear. As I sat up, I noticed I was in a chamber, lying on a queen-sized bed, and wearing what resembled a hospital gown. The last thing I remembered was the Bifrost and getting knocked off course.
"Oh, good. You're awake," Loki sighed in relief as he approached my side.
"What happened? Where are we?" I wondered, still feeling confused. "How long was I out?"
"The Bifrost brought us here a week ago. We're on a planet called Sakaar. You were unconscious since arrival."
"What?"
"Time flies differently here than anywhere else."
Nothing was making any sense. I felt a minor migraine coming on. "Where's Thor? Is he alright?" I pinched the roof of my sinus.
"I haven't seen him," Loki answered.
I sighed. "Whatever this place is, we need to find a way outta here." I carefully hoisted myself off the bed. Ever since my transformation into an Asgardian, I have discovered that I recover super quickly and can shake off minor ailments than any human.
"I'm afraid that no one ever leaves this place, Casey," Loki informed me. "Anyone who arrives here remains here."
"You know I don't just give up right away whenever there's a hard obstacle," I stated, taking note of a window, and saw the view was massive, tall buildings, and at a distance, which made me think of a giant garbage dump, and multiple wormholes in the sky that dropped random odds and ends. One of those wormholes was bound to get us back to Asgard and stop Hela from wreaking havoc. I hoped Freyja and Agnar were okay, along with the countless other Aesir.
"Now that you've recovered, the Grandmaster will want to meet you," Loki stated.
"Who? Is he a DJ or something?" I wondered if we had landed on some nightclub or a party planet.
"He's the ruler of this planet. I've been able to gain his favor while you were dormant."
It was obvious Loki had charmed his way in. It was probably the only way to navigate the odd planet to find a way off it.
There was a small green flash right near my left hand.
"What the frak?" I wondered as I looked to find a gold ring on my ring finger. It had a small green gemstone that I assumed was an emerald. I noticed that the ring was oddly shaped, resembling the trickster's horned helmet.
"I told the Grandmaster that you were my wife. It was to spare you from having to fight his champion in the arena when you woke up," Loki explained.
"What kind of planet did we just land on?"
I was dressed in an indigo gown that someone had left for me while I was comatose, and I wore it when I woke up. In some ways, it felt like being back in the palace. The vibe was more intergalactic, high-tech, and advanced than that of Earth. I noticed that some people around appeared to be from various parts of the galaxy. Either they've always been on Sakaar, or they ended up crashing on the planet and adapted to it.
"Just follow along, and don't wander off," Loki suggested as he led me through a series of corridors. "And stay at my side at all times so people will know we're a couple."
"Noted," I stated, feeling reluctant, though aware that it was the only way to know what I would be up against and potentially find some allies who wanted to get off the planet, too.
We arrived in what I could only guess was a throne room.
"The sleeping beauty is finally awake," a middle-aged man smiled at me from what I figured was his throne, making me guess he was the Grandmaster.
This just gets weirder by the minute. I thought.
